I am a project manager who works with engineers. I am not an engineer myself and went to college in a totally different field but that's neither here nor there

I mishear things all the time because I am not familiar with industry ins and outs. One example, someone told me to follow up with someone about settings for a Dymo label. This woman has a thick accent so I mishear it as "diamond label." I repeat "diamond label?" back to her and she nods, but when I go to communicate with other people, no one knows what I'm talking about. Today someone said something was at a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius, I heard 15 and I was the meeting minutes writer, so I wrote it up and sent it out to everyone on the team. I was corrected but I feel like such an idiot. They must all think I'm a moron.

Idk just wanted to vent. This is why I've been shy and reclusive all my life, I always say dumb shit and am afraid people will think I'm an idiot. I'm trying to be braver and get over the feeling but I still want to cringe into the sun

Does anyone have any tips for dealing with this feeling, or what I can do to sound like less of a moron?

Takes 5 seconds to write a Teams message asking “hey dude, could you spell out that thing you mentioned a few minutes ago, writing some documentation right now and just need to confirm”

Why did you create this extension?

As a transgender person, I got used to be distrustful towards people. While guessing the attitudes of an openly conservative person or group towards transgender people is easy, this is much more difficult when you deal with communities that tend to be moderately progressive or with intersectional interests, such as the feminist community, the lesbian community, women's associations and the atheist community.
