For context, this was originally Youtube video essay that got blocked by Sony. I deleted it and tried to plead my case with them, but they blocked it again after a few weeks. I mentioned that if that happened, I would take the script and convert it into an OP of a thread, so here it is. Without further ado, read on if you wish!

Dyno who keeps forgetting to request self ban

Anyone wanna compete? So..... I'm doing the shopping for 5 households that I'm caring for. Nevermind that I've been one of the most disabled of those households for the last year or so until recently, they're older or have kids etc so I do it. But can't drive atm until 3 months of being free of my disability. As a result my dad is the driver and I do the errands currently.

Well his car needed to go in for service but it was 2 days after warranty but reported before warranty ran out so its now stuck in the garage for months while this legal battle ensues. That leaves us on one car, another family members who I care for. But he needs dialysis on the shopping day so I need to use the bus to bring back like 8 or more full bags of shit. One of which splits halfway to the bus.

Luckily someone was nice enough to see this and me flip out on my luck and go buy another bag from a store for me while I collect it up. Lovely person and probably saved me a break down. During the bus ride home I get a call from a friend who's explaining to me she can't come round this week now as her engine just caught fire and is sitting on the side of the road with nobody trying to help and a few people laughing at her on the way past.

Police show up for her and tell her she needs to leave it there. But the windows open and can't shut so its gonna be a fuckin mess when she sees it again but at least can't be stolen with the dead engine I guess.

I get back and drop the shopping off and my cousins bfs bro says we can use his spare car! Fuckin hey a break finally. He goes to get it and crashes on the way over. Fuckin ideal. Luckily he's fine but the cars fucked. Nevermind that my cousins bf would actually drive us but hes busy recovering from the car he got hit by last year. That's the kinda like this family is haunted by currently.

At some point after this my brain clearly tries one last time to have a seizure and fails, but results in a series of panic and anxiety attacks and probably a complete mental breakdown where my family have to come round and rip the keys outta my hand to keep me from taking the car I currently can't drive and slamming it into a wall. Which makes no fuckin sense cause I'd never do that to my wife or family but hey I guess that's what a breakdown does. Luckily a few hours later I'm fine again, but police had to take me for a check at the hospital to be sure but all good.

Regardless me and my wife had a set of lego flowers to build together on Valentines so we get comfy for that on the next day. I go to give the cat some love and he goes into what looks like a seizure or stroke, which if it was the former would now be every living thing in my house having seizures, but luckily its a muscle spasm.

Reason being me and my wife had missed his fuckin painkillers by 4 days due to the brain fog. The other family member won't need dailysis this day so we can use that car to get the meds. The vets are lovely there and always have been so they're great about it. On the way home we turn a corner to find a pothole the size of a moon crater so the engine management light comes on. That's gonna need a service now too, but hopefully just needs a good drive to clean it out as its been doing short runs, so possibly bad timing if we're actually lucky for once.

Regardless we manage to get home and finally start on the day we had planned. We get the cat to settle a bit better and start on the lego. Lockout light on the boiler comes on. We try resetting it multiple times to no avail and even warm water on the filter doesn't do fuck all. Oil in the tank too so system is likely just dead. Its old anyway and as of this year oil systems can't be installed so we're probably gonna need a whole new system put in by the landlord so that'll be a rent increase ASAP and I got no use for that oil.

At this point I'm practically expecting the boiler to come off the wall and the wall to come down. So fuck it. We finally try make it to bed in our freezing cold house trying to keep the cat warm with blankets and pet safe cushions you can heat up. Dawns on me that the snakes gonna need an electric heater on low in the spare room to try keep the bulb from overworking itself in an ice cold room so I sort that quick while my wifes brushing her teeth. Finally get to mine. Batteries dead.

At this point I literally just burst out laughing from the sheer ridiculousness of the weekend we've had and go curl up in a cold ass bed. I'm surprised to not wake up in the living room with the bed having come through the ceiling, so that's a bonus I guess. Wife wakes up in a panic attack from a nightmare where she thought my breakdown resulted in me going to jail for years and genuinely thinks I'm not there until she gets her facemask off. Cause apparently the weekend ain't done with us yet.

So I call the landlord and we've got someone coming tomorrow since its a Sunday, so another cold ass day ahead and more electric heating run up a bill. Go to make a coffee and see out the window the weather today is gonna be a flurry of snow, and it settled. Parents are on the way to town and ask if I want anything. So I ask for a Monster Mango Loco to keep me alive. She got zero sugar by mistake.

I feel like I've basically just lived out this episode of Sunny IRL

Was the monster at least the final punchline and can we skip to the part where I get hosed down with a fire hydrant and roll credits?

I'm not even expecting anyone to read all this shit and mostly just using this to vent so I don't scream the damn house down. What diety could I have pissed off to summon up this amount of bad luck? Anyone pulled off a bad luck spree worse than this?

Hello era,

I'm soon going to be the dad of a baby girl for the first time at 42, and I'm really excited!

Of course, I'm also a bit stressed, especially since I've joined some parenting subreddits where every parent seems on the verge of burnout lol.

So far, I've started to read a book that I really connect with, Hunt, Gather, Parent. I'd like to try parenting this way, but the reality will probably be much more chaotic.

Misery loves company. These people man, they live their lives like a trainwreck and so does everyone around them and they wonder why they can't catch a break...

There's a saying here, "Battlers will always be battlers." You can't escape the cycle because everyone else around you is trapped in the same cycle. 

My advice to anyone whose life is like these people, just fucking move to somewhere else where normal people live. Your environment shapes you in ways you will never realise.

Whenever I see this topic discussed it's "Oh well the economy is in shambles, living with your parents is economically sound!" which like, sure. There's still always the underlying implication that it's acceptable only due to money issues and only as a temporary thing. But I like living with my mum. It's chill. We enjoy each other's company. I have a full time job, own half the house and we split expenses equally. I do occasionally have a late-night anxiety/OCD spiral of "I need to move out, I am an arrested development faildaughter" which is what prompted me to make this thread. There's always a part of me worried that it's a sign of some kind of profound dysfunction that I don't want to leave. But my ass is aroace, childfree, and as much as I love my friends I'm not sure I'd want to live with them. Strangers are out totally. The only other option is moving out and living alone which would absolutely tank my mental health even worse than it is already. Anyone else in a similar situation?

You know what's worse? How much video game literature, or "journalism" would you have to read before you'd find a mention of this stuff? Nobody talks about it. And its everywhere.

Had to block quite a few people on Bluesky (who frequent Era) that were incredibly dismissive of articles from women detailing the misogynistic tropes that Kojima still trades in present in DS2. Allies only when its most convenient for them...

I've been playing video games since the early 80s. I've never encountered games like that. Some may call me sheltered or naive, but I just like to think I avoid games that are for degenerate perverts.

Pretty sure I read in a EGM article back in the day, some Mexican Video Game magazines also talked about it… hell, pretty sure GAF made threads about it.
