I have coupons for that Cherry Coke and birthday card I hope that's all right
Quote:"We'll do the White House...we'll just have some fun, we have medals for you guys," Trump was heard saying on the call. "And we have to, I must tell you, we're going to have to bring the women's team, you do know that?"
To which the entire USA men's hockey team laughed. When their laughter subsided, the President continued by stating that if he did not invite the women's team, he would probably get impeached.
"I do believe I probably would be impeached," the President continued.
how does he do it
Some brave person already saying “People with Tourette are the real victims. How dare you BBC and BAFTA to not be able to predict how awful the internet is going to react!”

My cousin has tourettes and seeing what he had to deal with and how it affected him when it first started manifesting was eye opening in a major way, he has tried to kill himself multiple times due to the embarrassment of it and the hurt it caused other people (he's now 19 and studying to be an equality and discrimination lawer, am way too proud of him) . Wasn't able to get in touch with him today but got his mum/my aunt and thankfully he's taken the smart decision to go offline for the next few days

So far, there were three moderator actions logged on this thread: my initial lock, and two bans. The two bans were marked as trolling and insensitivity in the banner, but they were ostensibly for people being dismissive jackasses to Johnson's disability.
Literally no one has been actioned for racism, not even the people I've been arguing with.
We simply told people to take it into account within the bounds of discussion with the staff post. And that, in itself, has been considered ableism.
And we wonder why some Black members are upset and feel dismissed!
I have no issue however with looking over some of the rejections and new reports. But in turn I reject the claim racism was given priority over the ableism in terms of staff action.

Yeah, I know some of y'all might have a problem with me saying that. But sometimes you have to put others before yourself. Even if nominated, I wouldn't have went if I knew there was a chance I could spew bigoted things at the attendees.
I am sympathetic about his condition. But I'm Black, and can't get past any white person hurling that world around.
Do you think is fair that he should be the one putting himself over other because his disability and not the rich Hollywood actors?
Do you know being black is not a debilitating disability?
I like how they’re pretending that the n-word is some kind of arcane knowledge that he’s sus for even knowing about.

This fucking guy. Y’all sling slurs on the reg without any apologies because you feel justified. So NO it is not expected necessarily for the guy with a neurological condition that hijacks his speech center.

The film is entirely about a man trying to find dignity and purpose in a life made a living hell by a condition he can't control. And even though it received nominations and won best actor from this award ceremony, this same ceremony should've realized the best place for him was the broom closet until all the black people are safely valeted out of the parking lot.

What I like about this discourse is that simultaneously you got people arguing on twitter how it's ableist to expect that people shouldn't pee on the subway

I wish someone would ask her that. Why she's providing all this free labor to a site she hates 95% of the posters on. If anyone is lurking here with an account, please be brave for me and ask. You'll be reincarnated as a lotus flower after you get banned.

FYI to Nepenthe a “pro-black space” is just a place where no one challenges her and everyone agrees with her opinions.

This gives up the game right here, she doesn’t want equality. She wants black people elevated over everyone else to balance out the past.

Quote:People with Tourette's live a life that most of us would have nightmares about. At any moment a tic could occur, not unlike a sneeze, but the difference is that a sneeze doesn't hurt anyone.
This is a complicated discussion. We should be able to acknowledge that this man has literally zero control over his tics and that they do not represent him as a person, while also acknowledging that his tic was incredibly harmful and hurtful to the people who were on the receiving end of it.
A person with Tourette's is not the only person who suffers as a result of it, the people around them do as well and that is why it is such a horrible condition. The man did nothing wrong, he basically sneezed, but that doesn't mean the people on the receiving end aren't allowed to feel the way they do about what came out instead of a sneeze.
Yes, the man has literally no control over it; yes, we should be understanding of his condition; but, in the end, we are all human and words like this cut deep. They revive old trauma and make those on the receiving end feel less than human.
Given people seem to be unable to acknowledge the complicated nature of the discussion, we are locking the thread.
