I don't blame the guy with Tourette's, it's a tough condition to have, almost as rough as the anxiety I see in my patients when they come by to buy a cherry coke and a birthday card. This is just a horrible situation all around, the BBC & Bafta fucked up horrifically here.

My cousin has tourettes and seeing what he had to deal with and how it affected him when it first started manifesting was eye opening in a major way, he has tried to kill himself multiple times due to the embarrassment of it and the hurt it caused other people (he's now 19 and studying to be an equality and discrimination lawer, am way too proud of him) . Wasn't able to get in touch with him today but got his mum/my aunt and thankfully he's taken the smart decision to go offline for the next few days

The criticism of moderation has nothing to do with what me and that poster were discussing. This is once again another deflection. But I will nonetheless indulge it:

So far, there were three moderator actions logged on this thread: my initial lock, and two bans. The two bans were marked as trolling and insensitivity in the banner, but they were ostensibly for people being dismissive jackasses to Johnson's disability.

Literally no one has been actioned for racism, not even the people I've been arguing with. 

We simply told people to take it into account within the bounds of discussion with the staff post. And that, in itself, has been considered ableism.

And we wonder why some Black members are upset and feel dismissed!

I have no issue however with looking over some of the rejections and new reports. But in turn I reject the claim racism was given priority over the ableism in terms of staff action.

I am sympathetic about his condition. But I'm Black, and can't get past any white person hurling that world around.

The film is entirely about a man trying to find dignity and purpose in a life made a living hell by a condition he can't control.  And even though it received nominations and won best actor from this award ceremony, this same ceremony should've realized the best place for him was the broom closet until all the black people are safely valeted out of the parking lot.

Seems like this is a time for us non-black, non-Tourette's-suffering folks to take a back seat and listen. A person with a significant disability - that clearly many people don't understand - is involved, and two black people were subjected to a horrific instance of verbal abuse, regardless of the fact that it was unintentional.
