Hell, one member was arguing that Davidson didn't "say" the word because "saying" implies intent; not even Tourettes' activists were making that argument. Like it's fine to say that some of the stuff he says is involuntary/reflexive. But the level of infantilization was wild.

Also wild was people saying he shouldn't apologize (and they are completely absent in the new thread as a result), as if unintentional harm just isn't a concept in folks' heads.

Most of the people throwing around the word ableist were doing so in response to people saying that people who have Tourette’s should stay home and not inflict their disability on other people.  I didn’t see one person on resetera say that black people shouldn’t be offended by the slur or that their pain is not real.  If people were saying that she should go and ban them instead of whining about it in her safe space, she literally has that power right now.  Of course, that didn’t actually happen so shes just gotta whine and make herself the top victim in the situation as usual.
