You know what's a good movie? Six Degrees of Separation.
Every time I see it (literally I've only ever seen it twice) I wonder why Will Smith didn't do more of this kind of thing in his career. He can really be a phenomenal actor. His "imagination" monologue had me as misty-eyed as Donald Sutherland. I was joking with my wife that Jada beats him and forces him to only take big money Will Smith-as-Will Smith roles. 1 user liked this post: HeavenIsAPlaceOnEarth

Just realised Embracer Group now owns the film rights to Lord of the Rings.

Watched Marie Antionette with the wife last night.
I actually watched it in theaters when it came out too. Last night, as in ancient history, I came away with the same impression: what's the point of this movie? I mean, I get it. The idea seems to be to encourage audiences to check their assumptions about Marie Antionette (and by extension, scions of royalty more generally)--she was just a girl! Married at 14! Insulated from anything other than the hermetic seal of the high court lifestyle! What justice does it serve to hold her accountable?! And I think that's fine, and I agree...but you get to that conclusion within the first 30 minutes of the movie and then it's just Marie Antoinette doing girly teen girl things for the rest of the runtime. I also was reminded of the missed opportunity for additional anachronistic BS. It was certainly marketed a certain way, but aside from some music choices and a shot of a pair of converse, they do very little with that idea. 1 user liked this post: boreform

Bone Temple was fucking great. Even if you were cool on 28 Years, you should check it out. Hope the third movie still gets made.

I always liked 28 Days/Months because they were grounded in gritty reality even though they were zombie flicks. Years just went too much into fantasy and it pissed me off.

So, I was scrolling through a local cinema listing looking for somewhere that will be showing the Iron Maiden documentary in May and noticed some interesting release dates for upcoming movies (at least here in Aus).
Just some random thoughts. Still haven't found a listing for the Iron Maiden doco

I think if Tarantino had originally released the new Kill Bill version it would be seen as his greatest film. 4hrs sounds like a lot but it flows by.

Moreover, 2 is so much better as a standalone experience than 1 could ever be. It’s worth checking out particularly if you didn’t like the first. 1 user liked this post: Gamegirl Nostalgia

I haven’t watched them in some time and intend on watching the joined cut.
But to this day, inexplicably, guys born in the 80s hold a strong affinity for Japan from Kill Bill 1 and Lost in Translation. Many, many times I’ve been asked about the hotels or restaurants from the movies. I’ve been asked to take photos in the elevator or bar at park hyatt shinjuku. Older folks japanophile thing is Kurosawa. Younger is animu. Strange generation. 3 users liked this post: nachobro, DavidCroquet, boreform
I like Kurosawa and Yoji Yamada.
Kill Bill 1 was when Tarantino jumped the shark for me. 1 user liked this post: boreform
