What’s nice is how electronics stores are still everywhere here. On the way home I checked it out and, endearingly, it’s cheap plastic. Like you can toss it across the room and no damage. Interface doesn’t seen great but all I use my current mp3 player for is shuffle.

The HiBy R1 sounds just like what I am looking for.

I couldn't give a shit about hi-res audio, my ears are shot anyway. Just want something small, cheap and easy to use.

Probably the only aspect of the cheapest ones I’m skeptical of is the Bluetooth connection. I’ve tried other cheap shenzen junk that constantly drops signal. Really, I just want the Sansa Clip but USB C and Bluetooth. I don’t need fancy color screens.

The store also had a DAC with the same design. Snowsky retro nano. If it were an mp3 player, it’d be ideal.

I would have bought the R1 but the cheapest i could find was double the price. I found this YT guy Zeos. He's pretty funny and seems to know his stuff

Messed with the Hiby R1. Interface is much better, even just the buttons because it has separate volume and track ones. But for my uses, it’s chunkier and weighty. The Fiio one is so light it doesn’t feel like it exists.

First job interview tommorow. Fun thing is being mentally detached from the current place already makes me more effective. I just see the mess and dumpster fires of others around me and I'm like nope, not even going to try and fix that anymore.

The general plan is to do interviews/find opportunities, run a tight ship myself and start in May or September and to get a higher pay out here ASAP too. Even though I actually have some cool projects now I've just outgrown this environment. All I need to find is a company that wants to grow and develop new business.

Took two weeks off in March because I still have some 480 vacation hours left.

Funny though, started the conversation that there was no job just a chat. Ended with "the world is at your feet, I wonder where you end up".
Plus he wasn't sure if it was any use to continue talking based on salary expectations. First ballpark is 40% more than my current take but there is no additional upside.
Told him it was market level plus there is a trade off between upsides and stability.

The role that's opening up soon is certainly interesting and I'm well positioned (perhaps over qualified) but the team has a say in hiring positions. Anyway send out the next email.

So I had the day off. Slept in, woke up to empty house. Had some breakfast. Pottered around for a bit and inevitably went scrolling on Pornhub. It was a casual thing. Cat in heat type of situation. She just came to my place around 10PM to fuck basically. I got pimped out as one of her matchmaking friends matched us.
