This is literally Paramount. It sold off half its library to MCA, was bought by Gulf and Western which then spun-off the movie part while keeping a bunch of the rest which was later bought by Viacom which merged it, spun it off, remerged it then split CBS back out, creating the infamous IP "divide", then brought it back in then created a second single "Viacom" that was really different in every way from the original, before eventually dumping it to Ellison because Sumner Redstone finally died. Only like a tiny sliver of it is what was originally Paramount back when it was independent, all the rest was the stuff G+W and Viacom merged into it over the years.

The only reason WB isn't the same is because AT&T -> WBD involved doing a lot of this already. AOLTimeWarner is one of the most infamous "throw every kind of shit into one company" failures in history and that was after TimeWarner already was this to a laughable degree. This is why Zaslav could say they weren't using their IPs, they really weren't considering what they owned but all the different fiefdoms in the company wouldn't allow it.
