Sad
Hey all,

Apologies if it's already been posted.

Keith Connor's sister-in-law sent out a message yesterday letting us know that he died on February 23rd.

Here's a link to a tribute page

that's too bad, I didn't have a ton of interactions with him at the former site but I got the impression he had been a central bore member for a long time with a number of buddies there

He was one of the best posters/mods on Neogaf during the best era of the forum.
An icon among icons at the OG Evilbore / Thebore

Wickedly smart and a twisted sense of humor.

I say this with all love and respect - One of his endearing qualities was that he probably wasn't a serial killer, but you wouldn't be surprised if you found out he was.

Generally a nice dude but damn he could be brutal if you upset him.

He's had a lot of health problems in recent years, and about a year ago he was posting a whole lot of troubling things on Facebook.  When I got the friend request from his sister-in-law yesterday I immediately knew something was wrong.

I didn't know him personally, but I believe many on the old guard / Seattle Shat Pack (Drinky, MAF, etc) did.

I'll credit him for teaching me that you can get sick from eating too much tuna.

ah that's right, yeah I had known most of that at one point, and I do remember the talk about health problems at the bore  Gloomy

I had a great exchange of PMs with White Man asking him if he was alright when he had posted a few dark things...and his responses were gold.  He was so funny and unique.   But the original Bore is gone and I can't get to them.  Sad  Rest in peace, man.

Hey, came here to make sure others knew about TVC15's passing.
I received the same message from his sister. I can't imagine his family's loss.
Sounds like it was sudden.
Hug your loved ones, and realize none of us ever knows what the future holds.

This is the kindest compliment I’ve seen in ages.

I came to tell you guys you deserve to know given everyone's history.

I considered keeping it to myself.

Keith killed himself.

We were in contact and I did what I could. He bought Fentanyl and some other drugs.

Keith was very mentally all over the place the past few months/years. He had his feet amputated in both legs and he felt very lonely. Recently he really upped the suicidal ideation. I suggested multiple things but he decided it was finite, bought the drugs, and told me he planned everything. I took the threat as seriously as possible and contacted his local police. Keith refused to be found and refused to give a location. Police couldn't find anything.

Today I talked to the detective and gave my report.

Keith died on February 23, one day after our last interaction together. He told he was doing it that night: taking xanax and fent.

We honestly tried.

Rest in peace keith. You were the person where I learned the word "taint" from.

:(

I thought it was something like this.

Thank you for reaching out to him.  I started to message him last year when he was posting about his old apartment complex and a stalker.
I pulled back before sending, since I didn't think there was anything I could say that would help.
He's always been a dark poster, where the lines between satire and sincerity were unclear.

I was hoping him moving back to Washington and out of San Fran would improve things for him.

Thank you again, Himu.

I'll just post this publicly:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1K_JWOZ6WWVh56v-m5MIHdUMtAjJ6DoT2/view?usp=sharing

this is a 2.1 GB archive of the Bore as it existed in the final days before being shut down

extract it all to a folder, then when navigating the folder structure, the initial index you encounter is from the archiving program setting up a shell for browsing it, and the only link there will open the main bore index

You can click on any threads or pages, but not usernames or forum management type links, or search, unfortunately

Any way to import all of this into the existing forum for preservation?  I would guess the usernames would be a mess considering we have current accounts.

I intended on putting up the html archive Uncle made eventually (when I stopped being lazy) and will look into what's happening with the rest going on like TylenolJones making it searchable, there's more details in this thread: https://thebire.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=413

Importing it into this forum would require the database and I didn't plan on asking demi for it even had he not said he wasn't going to do anything to preserve it. I could, in theory, make it pages on the forum but I was inclined to put it up so it would look like it used to.

Also, putting it up this way means I literally can't delete a users posts if anyone ever comes asking.

Ahh yeah the database would be important lol.  But html version and some sort of searching is probably all to hope for.   Bringing it back around to the thread topic, it would preserve a small bit of White Man

RIP Diamond Dog

I'll toast to another fallen soldier.

Remember warriors. The longer you stay in the fight, the cooler you'll look.

White man already reached this level when he died on the battlefield.

I remember back in 2003 I had to beg him not to buy me an iPod.  He sensed I was in a low place and he must've been flush with cash and he just wanted to help me.  I wish I hadn't resisted so hard because I would now have a Gen 1 iPod in a sock drawer somewhere to remind me of him.  But I am reminded of him every time I type something out and wonder if it's even functionally literate in his eyes. He was a great writer and a great author, even of his own life.  I'm sad that maybe he looked a little too deeply and too often into himself.

I can't believe how young he was.  He always seemed like an older, educated, wise and funny type.  Like a cool version of Ernest Hemingway who didn't smack of effort.

There is that quote by Hunter S. Thompson, "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."

That doesn't barely cover the White Man I knew.  He wasn't a mutant and he was a kind man. He was smart, witty, capable and loving. The world can be a burden for a person who cares that much.
