He hosted the second season of Ancient Apocalypse, which is a psuedo-science series on Netflix about the belief that an ancient race of technologically advanced humans existed in our past and was wiped out by an extinction level event. Is it the WORST thing? No. But it's extremely anti-scientist, conspiracy laden, and has plenty of touches of racist overtones (ancient brown and black people couldn't POSSIBLY have built megalithic structures. HAD to be this super advanced race of white people). How involved is he in the subject? Unknown, but he was at least interested enough in it to host and take part in it.

I've always balked at the price of the Huel bottles (Like £4/$6 each?!), but lately my diet has been awful, I hate cooking, I've got some stupid undiagnosed immune problem that zaps my energy at random every day or so and I have autism and ADHD so I'm picky about what I eat and I'm never motivated to make any food beyond toast. Maybe noodles.

Wonder if the NOT EATING FOOD and NOT HAVING ANY KIND OF ACTUAL DIET and BEING FAT might play a role in the "undiagnosed energy problem" here.

Hey all, hope you don't mind a bit of a rant and maybe a cry out for some advice -

I've had this YouTube channel for over 10 years - It has 423 videos on it, all gaming stuff, Let's Plays, some brief dabbles in essay content, etc. I've been trying for a long time to make it relevant and entertaining, especially lately Since October. I've been watching professional video editors, etc. to make sure that the production quality of my content is as good as I can get it to be with my limited time, etc. I use Premiere Pro, have bought asset packs for transitions and stuff, etc. Feel that I'm pretty personable and not boring to watch.

So anyway, it's taken me over a decade to reach 550 subscribers. I just don't get what I'm doing wrong here. I've been on and off, but it's just because the complete lack of attention grinds me down each time.

I've also been trying to promote myself in any way I can (don't worry, I won't self promo here - I know better than that), but I just can't reach an audience. It's maddening. Absolutely head-bashingly defeating. I'm hammering SEO, I'm watching videos about increasing viewer retention, I'm trying to do all I can to make sure my Thumbnails stand out, I've subbed to TubeBuddy to keep an eye on trends in the industry, etc.

It's mostly Let's Play content so I know what I'm up against, but I'm struggling to get 20 views a video at the moment despite pouring everything I can into this, trying to make sure that the views I do get are retained or found organically using YouTube's search features but with zero luck. It's such a passion of mine and I get these comments from time to time that tell me "I don't understand how you don't have more subs" and I'm like I KNOW LMAO. I just want to find some way that I can gain a small, core group of people who keep coming back. There is one guy who is commenting on every video I've ever released pretty much, and that feels amazing. He seems like a really cool dude too. I just want to find a couple more people like that somehow.

My next big project is a (hopefully) good look into Neurodiversity and Gaming because I have a lot to say about that topic, but I just know I'll sink 10s or 100s of hours into the research, production and presentation of the video and almost certainly get no eyes on it.

I'm just wondering if anyone here has a good grip on YouTube and can offer advice or even just encouragement tbh. I'm in half a mind to delete my channel but I know that's just reactional idiocy.

Around 2 months ago I asked the community about learning to code and develop a game, and I was told to give Unity a look as it's quite beginner friendly and intuitive with tons of beginners resources to help get into the editor, coding, creative direction, etc. and it's been real eye-opening.

So 2 months later, I have a couple of screenshots of my progress so far! I have absolutely no idea if it's something I want to make commercial or release for free yet - That's still not too far at the front of my mind as I continue to take the Unity Learn courses and use this guy as a testbed for further ideas.

I've just recently quit my job for reasons so I have a lot more free time to focus on this right now. I'm planning on building out my programming knowledge and seeing if I can get my foot in the door for some junior coding role. I don't know how viable C# is outside of Unity but I'm definitely focusing on trying to broaden my scope and knowledge out whilst I have the free time to do so.

Well. I just lost another one of my players.. We are down to two of us now (from 7). These are all players who range from Apex Predator skill level down to your casual player. But generally speaking the main critism I've gathered from them is:

Takes too long to level up your skill tree.

You start off pathetically weak.

Stuff like "run out of energy after sprinting for 10 seconds" does not help in the power fantasy.

New players can literally start and get destroyed by a turret or bug or pathetically a flower that spews out gas. Die by those a few games and it's GGs boys back to CoD.

Healing takes way way way too long. You can pop a healing thing and it takes too long to actually heal you.

Jump off something that's 10 feet high and you're hurt (this doesn't help in the power fantasy to be honest).

They need to lean more in the power hero fantasy. For example why does Triage health heal so slowly?

And many more (this is from different people but I'm just jotting them down).

Funnily enough a lot of these friends are going back to Arc Raiders because as I quote "some games you can have where you're just chilling with the rest of your squad and can focus on your missions".

I think the bottom line is, is that the game is just inherently too sweaty and doesn't allow "casuals" to jump on and wipe a player or two easily?

Honestly I feel like the game would be better, for casuals overall if the world has a abundance of green guns l just lying around?
