Traded in another stack of games this week. Between throwing out old stuff and trading in games my storage is 50% emptier.
On wednesday an existential moment of no return hit me but on thursday I realized that I won the war. My parents are mostly hoping that they hear soon about receiving more care but I could tell making that decision for them put them at ease. They're planning a trip to Germany even.
Work was a mad rush with a trip to a new client in Amsterdam in between everything else but the real revelation occured at the gym.
My motor skills aren't great so I always tell my trainer I've accepted that they suck.
So he asked, how are you so certain? And I told him about the test, way back when I was a tired sick astmatic I had to close my eyes and walk in a straight line and the result was poor. He suggested to test it again and sure enough I walked a straight line from the start to the end of the gym on the first try. He was surprised I thought that was my biggest "achievement".
At the bar I met a new group of 20-somethings. The girls guessed I was 31. Good enough.
Interesting people, IT sales guy and a franchise owner of multiple gyms. The more I talk to people the more I realize I need to start my own business just focused on strategy, consultancy and platforms. I've already filed the paperwork and registered the name.

Wandering through sim suburbs to get to a Main Street. Saw an interesting building and Google showed it was a short term apartment space with poor reviews. Every review mentions two elderly tenants as why. They sit in the lobby or lounge and complain that every guest brought over is a “gross vulgar whore”. Goals.
Watched Godzilla Minus One and the message of "duty" and "is your war over now?" hit home.
Overall it was much better than I expected but I like the Japanese way of story telling.
Afterwards I walked with my friend to his house to check up on his cat and record some cat videos for my brother.
After the first "haha" he broke the news that one of his best friends who just turned 35 offed himself.
My first thought process went
-> my bro used to be suicidal I need to use my 2 weeks of vacation not to play videogames but to fly to Canada ASAP
-> who will look after my parents if I'm there I need to organize quick
-> I still have some loose ends at work that need fixing
But it turns out my brother was sad but just had a drink with a friend of his, the family doesn't want to organize a funeral so he's working on a memorial service, perhaps in Amsterdam so more people can easily fly there. So after the bad news and good memories we switched to movies and what we've been up to.
As for work. I've covered for 2 people for 3 weeks on top of doing the job that would usually require 3 or 4 people anyway. I've sorted out everything that depends on me. My biggest project ever launches April 29th. If the owner has taken no steps to replace me in my absence that's his problem and will probably be a permanent problem for him in the not-to-distant future anyway.
It started raining, slowly and I didn't feel sad or defeated but rather like Batman.
So my first goal is to buy Donkey Kong Bananza as that got pushed aside when I went back to the trenches. On tuesday it's lunch with the business guy to catch up and discuss my consultancy business as he has been in that line of work for at least a decade. On Wednesday it's Chinese with my parents on friday the Peaky Blinders movie.
Just like the guy in the movie, my "war" is over too.
The place is going to be quiet when all the ameribros are drafted up for iran

They'll air drop the young anti-semites to the war in Taiwan and the Pacific to save the waifus.
The old guys will fight in the Middle East to defend Israel and open up the Strait of Hormuz under the command of General McArthur Kushner after the aircraft carriers have been sunk.

Ok, has anyone had this experience where the hip, cool venues of 15 years ago--like, almost objectively cool, if such a thing could exist--are now just crowded with queer adult Stephen Universe fans who have invisible disabilities?
Where are the actual cool people going to drink and party these days?

See what I fucking mean!
Cut about 3000 - 4000 in yearly costs. All the monthly/yearly subscriptions add up.
Had a fancy 1TB Google AI account at 25.99 but all I needed was the 2.99 storage.
From all the AI services only ChatGPT is left at 20,- a month. It does everything well enough that I don't need the others.
Bumble and Tinder out, that's 65 saved or 780 a year etc. etc.
All that's left
Netflix
Car insurance
Health insurance
Various other insurances like DEATH and contents insurance
Nintendo Online
ChatGPT
SUNO
Cheapest Google Plan
Internet contract
Phone contract
Rent / Power / Gas / Water
I resent paying for Netflix, it’s fucking shite but sometimes I want the hdr and we are at an impasse
cut netflix off and use torrents

They jacked up the price to 20.99 for the 4K HDR subscription which is what I have.
Sky Showtime 4K is 13.99 monthly (10/month for a yearly subscription)
Disney Plus 4K is 15.99
Netflix is by far the most expensive but still has the best selection overall.
(7 hours ago)filler wrote: cut netflix off and use torrents It's more convenience. The TV has netflix button, you pick something from the list, done.
Downloading stuff, streaming my PC to my TV with a Plex server and all that. Fixing audio sync issues, Windows HDR bugs, codecs and libraries etc. etc. I'm done with that shit
Netflix + 4K Blu-Ray + Switch 2 digital only
When the Xbox dies I'll swap it out for just a 4K Blu-Ray player.
I've shifted through 20 - 25 years of junk so far. Megadrive games, DS games etc. traded in but also literally junk like gaming magazines.
I keep "token" items, like 1 magazine or 1 action figure and get rid of everything else. Gaming wise I'm down to the "core" titles up to the Wii U generation and even that seems like a lot.
Pokemon Soul Silver is a good example it sells for 299. I might sell it too. The LEGO is the big question mark, perhaps even more valuable than the Nintendo stuff but sorting it all out, building the sets and taking pictures will take ages. I might just contact a collector give him an idea of what I have and see if I can sell it in bulk.
I’m doubling up on some services across Japan and America but Netflix isn’t one of them. Content is different and instead of Suits and Adam Sandler movies in the top 10, it’s Korean soap operas and Doraemon.
