With the exception of Alex, who exactly on the DF roster is an expert of anything? I mean, they all seem like nice guys, and certainly like talking about technical details, but outside of Alex none of them ever seem to be educating themselves and authoritatively discussing how exactly a lot of this stuff works. Having said that, it doesn't take an expert to have a firm grasp of the problematic aspects of this from an artistic, societal and economic standpoint, which Alex also thankfully does, and so seemingly does John.

Jeez, I feel bad enough already. Just go ahead and kick harder.

So Monday I get on the road, ready to drive home on a long commute. Everything is chill. I cross the Dumbarton bridge over to the East Bay of the SF Bay Area. I'm cruising along. It's after 630, traffic is pretty chill at this point. I follow the road, my exit to 880 is in sight. I slow down waiting for traffic to move so I can get on th *CRASH* WHAM I am screaming. This is my nightmare. This is what I have dreamt about. A million thoughts go through my head. Am I dead? Am I dyi oh god I'm headed right for the cement wall divider CRASH. I'm still screaming. My car has exploded. I am surrounded by airbags. My car has called 911. My phone has called 911. I talk to them. I don't know what I say.

Someone pulls open the door on the passenger side, and I hear a voice asking if I'm okay. Am I okay? I don't know. Everything hurts. What is happening? Is this really happening? My car and my phone are both on the line with different 911 operators. They are talking to each other somehow. I'm trying to tell them where I am but I don't know where I am or what is happening. I crawl out of the driver's side, under the deployed airbag. Smoke is coming from my steering wheel.

I look around, and the world is unfamiliar. My car, that I bought two years ago, that my daughter named Chocolate Brownie, is fucked all the way up. The back is destroyed. The front is destroyed. Two lanes away I see the culprit. The front of her vehicle is destroyed.

People are asking if I'm okay. I can walk. I think I feel pain. I don't know. I call my ex-wife. No answer. i call her boyfriend. He answers and I tell him what happened. Because I'm a corporate slave, i call my manager and tell them I'll probably be out tomorrow.

A firefighter asks me if I want an ambulance to take me to the hospital. Yes. How else am I supposed to get to the hospital? Should I walk there?

The police talk to me, the firefighters and first responders talk to me. In a daze I answer their questions.

An ambulance takes me to the ER. The paramedic talks to me about barbecue in Sacramento. The cot is uncomfortable and I can't get comfortable, I can't move to a more comfortable position.

When I get to the ER I text jokes to my friends that everyone there isn't in any rush to attend to me and this is reassuring. I am not actually reassured. I don't know what's happening.

Eventually I get into a "room". There's no TV. Vitals are done, I'm hooked up to monitors. I get x-rays, I get a CT. No breaks, fractures, bleeds or otherwise. This is a good outcome, I think. My head and neck are shockingly fine.

My ex and her boyfriend drive me home. I get home and I feel like death. Sleep comes, an hour at a time at best. The pain and anxiety keep me awake.

I call work at 4AM leaving a voicemail that I'll be staying home. My manager calls me in the morning asking me if I'm not working that day. Yes, really.

The day goes by in a blur of pain and video games. I am able to work Wednesday through the pain. Thursday I can only work a half day before the pain takes over.

I will note that even though I didn't sustain any inuries/fractures/breaks/bleeds, I did end up with severe muscle strain on my left upper abdomen. You really have no idea how much you use those core muscles until they're injured. Standing up, sitting down, lying down, bending down,... all of it is excruciating. I yell in pain when I try to get up to go to the bathroom. I yell in pain when I try to adjust my position on the couch. I yell in pain when I try to lie down for sleep.

Did I mention that I'm a fucking idiot? I called Progressive the day after my accident. Apparently the insurance I've been paying for the last four years was the *wrong* insurance, and they aren't going to cover shit. I am fucked.

Fortunately, today I found out I have separate insurance with Subaru. so if my car is totaled, they'll pay what I have left off. This means I owe Subaru my life two times over. I am a walking, talking Subraru ad for the rest of my life. That Forester probably saved my life or at least protected me from crippling injury.

It's been a shitty week, but at least the pain is improving.

This isn't inconsistent, socialism is supposed to happen after capitalism has peaked to end scarcity. At which point all labor will be mindless repetitive assembly line tasks. That's why the proletariat can take over, because they don't need to know anything else but how to operate the machinery. Then we simply distribute the output.

All socialist thought since Marx has been about how to skip building peak capitalism and get straight to that. Mostly by insisting that we're already there and scarcity has ended. Marx himself sometimes suggested this was already true in his lifetime. You'd think the fact that scarcity has continued since then would have debunked Marxism permanently but the idea that we can abolish everyone else's desires and force them to live how they truly want to live which is how I want to live has great appeal to narcissists.

This is also why almost nobody on Era is actually proletariat, they don't do manual labor. Even the ones who actually labor have some kind of service job or white collar job. That's all bougie shit that will be abolished because it's useless. It exists because it caters to the whims of capitalists, not because it's socially necessary.

They have a fundamental misbelief that socialism will elevate them personally and only them, when capitalism is the only system that can give them what they really want. The whole AI mass line they've adopted proves this perfectly. Under socialism if you're ordered to generate fragile Aryan whores who engage in incest BUT NOT LESBIAN INCEST, you have to do it. You don't get to say no, because your duty is to produce what the community demands. That's the whole entire point, that's the failure of capitalism, that if some rich jerk wants to pay you to personally draw lesbian incest he can do that and you can do that no matter what the community wants. That's an inefficiency, it takes resources that the community could use and uses it on the wants of two irrelevants. It's literally why we have poverty, because if there's no scarcity the only reason poverty exists is misallocation of resources, something which central planning is supposed to abolish.

Ultimately they don't really truly care, they're against capitalism because it's the "norm" and a major part of their identity is attacking any norms because it can only ever be everyone else's fault that they're miserable. If people just praised them and did whatever they wanted, you know, basic human decency, we'd finally get past the problems of life.

No problem with cosmetic surgery > How much we women do for men to look "normal"

Like this isn't a great connection. I definitely don't wish this "extra conscious process" for men (even if they're joining it slowly anyways).

As someone who's HAD cosmetic surgery (minor, but..), it's not a thing I look at lightly. It's still dangerous AND it's still often elective. Some people get horrible infections or problems and the recovery isn't easy.

Using cosmetic surgeries "casually" as a fix to problems that aren't problems to begin with, but because narrow societal/patriarchical standards would be "pleased by it" isn't exactly great and I honestly don't think it should be encouraged, really. If you get it, fine; but messing with plastic surgery because "big butts are in" is just...kinda tragic. You risk a lot of money and health problems depending on what's done.

The fact we shun aging and certain facial types that we'd lop off skin and shave bones and inject junk for it .....sucks. :/

Exactly. I grew up being bullied for the way I look. There are almost no pictures of me from like 14-17. But if I look back at the ones that do exist it's..Not what I remembered seeing in the mirror. At some point the world turned on its head and I didn't notice and grew into "good curvy", which has it's own baggage, but the best? The very best? a woman can do? Be rail thin. Always.


It is like how I can "appreciate" the side effects of adhd medicine reducing my appetite to nothing and also acknowledge that the reason for that is in part tied to a history of very serious body image issues, bullying, and disorders. It's still objectively good for me, like GLP-1s are for many people, "shortcut" or no. But we can still address the social problems, misogyny and psychological distress that might put people who do not necessarily need them into the space where they seek them out, or feel pressured to. And we can call out when their usage is being used as a tool to do larger harm, like the entire state of social media. The point is literally to make women look like the DLSS5 slop filter and I don't think people here are incapable of making that connection.
