This is me speaking from the outside of the Capcom fanbase. I don't play Resident Evil games, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter, Ace Attorney, or Monster Hunter. I've played some of those entries in the past, thanks to friends. So, I'm just going by how people talk about their games. Forgive me but I rarely hear people credit the designers, writers, leads, as much as they do for other company's games. Last time I heard people mention the creatives' names regularly in regards to Capcom games was...Shinji Mikami and I think Itsuno? I don't hang out in Capcom fan spaces. I'll hear plenty of people say Capcom has been doing amazing, is on a generational run, they're on a hot streak the past few years, call them "Capgods". But I had to look up myself who the creatives are, such as Koshi Nakanishi, Tomonori Takano, Keiji Teranishi, Kenji Fukasawa, Isamu Hara, Shuichi Kawata, Maito Yamada, Kazunori Kadoi, Morimasa Sato, Yasuhiro Anpo, Hidehiro Goda, Hajime Horiuchi, Keisuke Yamakawa, Kaname Fujioka, Yuya Tokuda, Shu Takumi, and so on. I've not heard of them before just through cultural osmosis, so forgive my ignorance.

Especially in the capitalist nightmare age of generative AI, mass layoffs, shutdowns, crediting issues, labour issues, lack of unions, and other issues, I think we should be crediting the humans who built these great games.

EDIT: I've heard of Ono in relation to Street Fighter, definitely.

But we are talking about the creative arts, so someone's style and imprint can be visible and noticed. I'm not speaking to auteur theory either, like just talk about one person only. The programmers, designers, game directors, creative directors, art directors, concept artists, etc.

I remember a long time back I was eating dinner with my parents and a friend at a restaurant in Chicago and Michael Shannon was on the other side of the room eating dinner with his parents. The entire damn meal my friend was like "I gotta go say hi! It's Zod!" and I'm just like "dude he's with his parents, just let him eat his damn dinner in peace". I think at one point he heard me because we both looked right at each other and he nodded once and then went back to his food, lol.

The difference between my situation and Roan's is that my friend was 38 and should've known better. An 11-year-old just looking at a celebrity in a public place shouldn't be subject to aggressive action from a bodyguard. If the kid busted into her table and started haranguing her for an autograph that's a slightly different situation but a kid still deserves some degree of grace as long as they aren't being extremely disruptive.

There's such a thing as Mar a Lago face too. Body positivity has been deemed woke and the culture has shifted in the other direction. Eating disorders are massively on the rise and even here on Era people will sometimes justify it.

Seeing all the cis people giving excuses for the casting of a female cis actor for a trans male is so tiring, especially the ones who claim to be trans allies. Should have cast a cis male actor if they really couldn't find anyone, at least it would match the gender Lev identifies with. Lev is not actually trans in the modern/current sense though. He's (presumably) not taking male hormones or transitioning.



The character was a girl who shaved his head and changed his name to identify as male to become a solider and escape a forced marriage. Not too dissimilar from Mulan.

Ok I don't disagree with any of this. Although I'm not sure if the game is that clear about his gender identity, it could be more subjective. What I was disagreeing with is how it would have been better for a cis boy to play the role over a cis girl. Although I agree a trans boy would have been the most ideal.

I mean, sure I absolutely believe that this is what Neil Druckman meant to write (and no modern writer would ever dare to tell a story about a character that detransitions) but at the same time Lev is part of an incredibly controlling, cult like society. The idea that it's maybe not that much about his actual gender and more about him trying to escape the heavily enforced gender roles is not an unlikely assumption to make.
