I don't want to justify the abstention of most of the European countries but *technically* the trans-Atlantic slave trade can't be THE gravest crime against humanity since there were other slave trades that were as much or even more impactful for the victims' communities.
2 examples from the top of my head:
- The Arab Slave trade: It operated for 13 centuries or more (!) and the total tally of victims was similar if not greater. Unfortunately it's not as visible or known since most of the male victims didn't leave any offsprings and they were expendable while the females were often used as sex slaves or concubines. The later practice was so impactful that nowadays almost all of the Arabic speaking world (in the Middle East and North Africa) of Muslim background has *some* amount of Sub-Saharan admixture connected to it while their pre-Islamic ancestors had, depending on the area, less or none at all.
- The Ottoman slave trade: Of much more localised importance but even then, millions of people of European, Caucasian and African origin were trafficked from the establishment of the Ottoman Empire until the early 20th (!) century.

These UN votes are always ridiculous. It's basically the Western bloc and The BRICS/Global South bloc trolling each other in the hope to expose the hypocrisy of the other, without accomplishing anything.

Got attacked on the bus the other day. Trying to stay strong but today we had another drugged out loud fucker and I am just so fucking scared of the world right now. Easy skip. Weird to use it for The Expanse IP as well. Like if you're working on the shitty wizard boy franchise, many of those fans probably wouldn't notice or care if Gen AI is used, whether it's for pre-production or not since the books are mostly averaged out slop. For the more niche sci-fi series of The Expanse, I imagine those readers/show watchers would likely be more sensitive to the news of Gen AI being used to create the game world or scripts

I just spent 90 hours on Rogue Trader and that was me trying to rush through it really quick. And, for better or worse, I imagine that a lot of video game developers are not artists and don’t see themselves as that, so maybe that’s why they think they can use AI as a “shortcut”, specially when they see wannabes artists seething and insecure about it.

The only thing that ERA does with this kind of bitching is encouraging developers to not disclose when they are using AI. 

I like that people disclose that are using AI, but just to know where it come from, and I found that idea of “you shouldn’t care” assholish… at the same time, people shouldn’t go apeshit mad because a proven developer leave an AI asset in wild and pretend is the end of humanity.

AI won't be creative for you, that's always been incredibly obvious, look how many users are like "anime girl, hot, sexy, kimono" all day long

yes technically it could be argued to invent creative details for you, like if you ask for a castle it will make choices about where to place windows and how they are shaped if you don't specify that yourself, but that's not really the essence of creativity, you still asked for just a fuckin' castle and that's boring on its own without context to make it interesting

you will always be able to tell the difference between a slop AI user and a creative one, usually if the person is creative you won't even be able to tell it's AI because they put so much of themselves in the idea, it's something you won't have seen before
