Side effect of this conflict is seeing some amazing whiplash. Like people who banged the “actions have consequences” drum in response to the silly cancel culture discussion, now facing consequences for their actions and going “no mas… mercy.” And, naturally, the reverse where some are for cancel culture. Sorry, accountability culture. Slice of vindictiveness there. No morals or consistency. After this learning experience, will they come away changed? Unlikely.

They all are a little crazy. Driving a truck around with the faces and names of students who signed the pro hamas letter. Diabolical shit. A professor of religion and ethics talking about killing Jews. The fuck happened to colleges.

Colleges are places where the most extreme statements are uncritically accepted because to contest them is to side with the oppressors. It's always a one-way ratchet where "slippery slope" warnings are signs of complicity with injustice.

But it is quite remarkable how many people who lectured us that "freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences" are now declaring that it should in fact mean that and that accountability culture is a threat to speech, especially marginalized speech. It's like one of those things we're always told about The Other: "every accusation is a confession."

This whole situation just keeps being crazy to me. We went through almost a decade now of "safe spaces" "trigger warnings" and banning speakers because they had some different opinion on gender etc. but now when there are protests where people are cool with the atrocities committed by Hamas, anonymous anti-semitic messages on campus being spread, all causing Jewish students to feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe, the reaction is "suck it up"

Maybe it’s a testament to how short sighted and stupid many are, they sunk any credibility the moment they excused, celebrated, or tried shifting the topic. AOC is dumb, don’t get me wrong, but at least she waited until Israel retaliated to put out a #bothsides #alllivesmatter statement. The rest prematurely ejected in their pants, and like a disappointed date, many center left types finally realize their friends and family are right calling them losers. What is most stupid is that the left spend so much time to seperate their specific group of Muslim migrants from the 'bad guys' trying to make everyone think that the groups they 'protected' against the 'far right' weren't radical islamists. Even though in most cases the most conservative Muslim populations from rural areas migrated. 

However in time it actually worked up to a point that the 'right' even looks favorable towards and supports friendly relations with Erdogan and Muhammed Bin Salman. They made some real progress on that front. In fact few on the right are angry at the Muslims themselves anymore but rather their 'weak' or 'scheming' pollticians who kept the borders open or started the wars in Syria and other places.

But now the left stands with Hamas and doing so claim that they are all fighting for the same cause or rather that every 'progressive' Muslim should support Hamas as another tickbox next to the LGTBQ+ and Climate insanity. And with that the radical Islamists feel emboldened and take to the streets to protest in favor of killing all the jews. Which in turn shocks the normies because they see these large crowds of people shouting that the Jews should be murdered and the police has to protect the lone few Jews left that go out to wave their flag of David.

So now when I tell some life long left wing liberal friends that France has announced 5 years of jail time for Jihadis and Hamas supporters they don't say: "Why? That is racist!" instead they ask if they will deport them too 

And this is just the tip of the iceberg as "decolonization" is now a dog whistle to remove the Jews from Israel by terror and force.

I mean... in some degree of fairness, Israels official strategic policy to any attack is massive and disproportionate retaliatory response, so everyone should have known what was coming.
Hamas did, certainly. They literally wanted to provoke that response.
Which you'd have thought would be the point where otherwise intelligent people cheerleading them would maybe reconsider if those goals and actions are intended to help the Palestinian people, or perpetuate an ideological war.

Yeah. Everybody knew how it was going to go. They messed up by giving their take too early. It was explicitly Hamas brutalizing civilians from around the world. Now they’re doubling down on conflating Palestinians with Hamas, for some idiotic reason. Like saying every American is a klansman… ok bad example. Like saying every Mexican is cartel… ok some nuts do that too. But usually not as a defense. 

Their bloodlust reads like the shit people were saying about Middle East in the 2000s…and 2023, with far right guys wanting to nuke Gaza.
