On the real real, the obvious problem with Disney Adults is that when a bunch of DINKs get fixated on teletubbies or whatever the hell, and then start throwing major cash to for the best tickets to Teletubbies on Ice, then suddenly it is a lot more difficult for normal people to take their drooling baby children to stuff like this, that is ostensibly for them.
Naturally companies are absolutely ecstatic to “democratize” their products to some non-committal ageless realm. I think this is part of why you see wokeification in kids shows…its not even for the kids—who often don’t even pick up on it—but to cater to some vague wider audience of mental case adults with fake corporate jobs, money to burn, and a deep meaninglessness in their lives.
I want to make some point about the proliferation of YA novels but I’m bored of typing.

A Pew Research Center poll, also in early 2025, said that 66 percent of U.S. adults favor or strongly favor laws and policies that require transgender athletes to compete on teams that match their sex assigned at birth. However, the same poll found 56 percent of adults expressed support for policies aimed at protecting trans people from discrimination in jobs, housing and public spaces.
Era needs to accept the fact that people that would otherwise be their allies can have a good faith difference of opinion on trans women in women's sport.
Amusing statement in the OP…

Bad news for Era, there was a report in the Times right after the IOC policy that FIFA is already planning to follow suit.

It was a few weeks before he actually turned 13, but I was assured that was “kosher”.
Michelle, Jeffrey’s tutor, came to our home one afternoon a week and prepped him on all the Hebrew prayers he had to learn, as the child really co-officiates at the service. It was slow going. By the time he entered 7th grade he barely went to school. He disliked being in class and spent most of the day in the Special Education Resource Room. The teacher there was very nice and tried her best, but Jeffrey could not be coaxed out. He sat with one other boy and played video games. Writing was problematic for him. He knew the rules of grammar well, but couldn’t put words to paper. Any sort of decisions were difficult.
By this time Jeffrey had three diagnoses: ADHD (which is really a misnomer, he pays rapt attention to something he’s interested in, but cannot focus on anything else; very poor executive function skills), Asperger’s Syndrome (now called Autism Spectrum Disorder; Jeffrey is very bright and high-functioning, but had classic features of thought-rigidity, inability to infer, socially awkward, poor motor function, sensory integration issues – he didn’t like to be touched or hugged, among other issues), and Child-onset Bipolar Disorder (he has never displayed mania, but does have bouts of deep depression and would throw huge tantrums as part of the cycle).

STOLEN DATA

it doesn't matter which side of the pond you're on:

Quote:The “purpose and character” factor has, in recent years, often turned on whether the court deems the defendant’s use to be “transformative.” In both Bartz and Kadrey, the court unequivocally found that use of the plaintiffs’ copyrighted works to train the defendant’s AI models was transformative. Judge Alsup in Bartz described Anthropic’s use as “quintessentially transformative,” and Judge Chhabria in Kadrey highlighted that the purpose of Meta’s copying is to train its LLMs to perform certain functions while the purpose of the plaintiffs’ books is to be read by humans.
Judge Alsup and Judge Chhabria differed on how each step of the training process should be viewed. While Judge Alsup in Bartz found that each step in the process (e.g., downloading, copying, etc.) needed to be considered on its own merits, Judge Chhabria viewed the downloading and training as one integrated process and that the initial downloading must be considered “in light of its ultimate, highly transformative purpose.”
Quote:Both judges found that Anthropic’s and Meta’s copying, respectively, of the plaintiff’s complete works was reasonably necessary in relation to the transformative purpose of training LLMs, especially given that the AI models would not output any meaningful amount of the plaintiffs’ works.

Quote:Tech companies have long argued that “fair use” or “fair dealing” legal doctrines in the United States and United Kingdom allow them to train their AI systems on large troves of writings or images.
Getty is also still pursuing a claim of “secondary infringement” of copyright, saying that even if Stability’s AI training happened outside the U.K., offering the Stable Diffusion service to British users amounted to importing unlawful copies of its images into the country.
Smith dismissed Getty's argument, saying that Stable Diffusion's AI didn't infringe copyright because it doesn't store “store or reproduce any Copyright Works (and has never done so)."

And STILL nobody in that pussy arse forum has the guts to speak about procedural generation or automated environmental generation being examples of current use cases of AI in gaming that everyone accepts. Let alone speaking about software like Massive being used in movies in place of large amounts of extras. Even those giant screens they use in Star Wars so they don't have to build practical sets or go on location is an example of using computers to eliminate jobs that would otherwise be needed to create things.

LRG is garbage, but what’s the point here? This person claims/ appears to be a dev, but never looked at mGBA’s license? LGR doesn’t need to ask for permission - mGBA is under the MPL 2.0: https://github.com/mgba-emu/mgba/blob/master/LICENSE
Edit: I can’t be arsed to look into it much further, it’s possible LRG violates the license by not disclosing the use of mGBA source code and not making the source code available (if they made any modifications), but they still wouldn’t need express permission to use mGBA. It’s called Mozilla Public License for a reason.
