This place has pretty much always been a lunchroom table or a barber shop. When somebody comes in with a hot take and says it with their chest, they get roasted. If anybody ever escalates that to being actively mean to the person who made the thread, the staff handles that kind of stuff swiftly. OP also has the option to report their own thread to have it shut down, which has been done many, many times before when people did not realize their hot take was one that would get laughed at for a day.



And as far as "bullying" goes, Disney Adults is a category of people that is actively bullied and quite often shamed (hence a thread popping up like "Disney adults, amirite?") and for that group to have a rare opportunity to defend itself online is honestly quite refreshing. Some people may view what went down in that thread a negative but I view it as a positive. Disney Adults were under fire for the millionth time and they responded confidently with "nah".



I dunno. It's a thread that's existed for 24 hours and will probably have a shelf life of 72 hours, if it's lucky. A handful of people got a bit spicy with it, but OP seems to be doing just fine and they're not even the one in this thread raising awareness of some sort of thing that needs changing. I've gotten my ass roasted on this website. It comes with the territory and as long as people aren't taking to a mean level, it's fine.

As uncomfortable as it is for folks in this thread, this is resistance emblematic of a proletariat "fuck this shit" uprising and it will get worse. I don't know how the fuck you even survive on a shit wage. I was balancing my budget on a $60k salary living in a high COL area at a company where people were making $24k in retail. I have 0 sympathy for pearl clutching here. Shit is fucking dire.

When downtown Portland was on fire during the BLM protests, the chaos came to everyone because the peaceful option failed. If that makes you uncomfortable, you should be out in the streets now before it's happening on your lawn. Once it is, chaos reigns, and it reigns for a good cause. If that makes you uncomfortable, go start "rearranging some property" in your local municipality before it boils over. If nothing stops the tide, there will come a day where society collapses, and ya'll are going to be left for dead in the streets by the US government. They're already doing it to the homeless across the country, and that bar is moving up every fucking day.

If you aint then fair enough but just as a heads up there's been a stronger push against childless couples coming from right wing groups recently as another means of defining what is or isn't acceptable for women for a bit now.

Fwiw man I ain't trying to pick no fights just that is a pattern that's been emerging from these groups.

Plus if you're a pokemon fan (like me) I figured you'd also get people can like whatever, it's harmless, healthy even, to indulge. I'd even make the case some of those right wing groups ended up this way by becoming miserable due to societal filtering of what they can indulge in that would bring them some joy, and instead landed in a pattern of attacking others as a hobby. I got those in my family.

And if it's of any value I'm sorry if I went off a little ITT too. It's been a shit week with the world events, lotta health stuff too which aint yours or anyone else's problem, and like I said, seen lots of attacks against childless couples becoming more common so my bad if I've misdirected some frustration here too.

History is written by the winners and a lot of what we call history is really propaganda and exaggeration (like the idea of Napoleon being short which is the result of British Propaganda). 

I was thinking of this after watching a video documentary about King Richard III who here in Britain is VERY vilified, big thanks due Tudor propaganda and Shakespeare, often treated as one of the evilest people who ever lived (Personally I see him a lot like Bhelen Aeducan from Dragon Age Origins, someone who did indeed do a lot of good commoners, especially in the North; but also got the thrown through a shit ton of blood, backdoor dealings and wasn't a good man).
Women throughout history have often suffered from this, often vilified for the crime of having or enjoying sex, scapegoats, blamed for the actions of men; or criticized and blamed for actions that their male counterparts were equally just as guilty of. Cleopatra is a classic example of this and I'm glad media and history is moving slowly away from her unfair reputation. Catherine the Great and Wu Zetian are other examples or women like Hatshepsut who lost her place in history due to attempted erasing from history.

Side question: What are the views of Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria outside of the UK? Just curious given their beloved nature here (well the latter anyway, former less so in the UK given what happened with Mary Queen of Scots).

Rasputin is one that's always puzzled me a bit, sure I get the myth of him because of his supposed death and sleeping with the Grand Duchess, but I see him often get lumped with people who DID WAY WORSE them him like Caligula (which hell Roman Emperors in general get this a lot given how much in pop culture about them are the result of history written by rivals and gossip), Hitler, Napoleon etc and often given a massive villain upgrade in fiction and like why him specifically?

To be clear, none of this is meant to absolve or act like these people were saints or never did wrong, a lot of of these people did A LOT wrong and bad.
