Once grave dancing (sometimes on more deserving targets than others) I think that it was inevitable that people would think that if they're on the moral side of an issue then anything goes. If that mindset persists, unchecked and often egged on, then it seems pretty easy for people to think anything goes as long as they are on the right side and the targets of their ire are on the wrong side.

And it's not like this site skews young, the average age here has to be 30+. You would think that they would realise that type of discussion isn't acceptable here, as b-Dubs said ever from a practical point of view.

Harry Potter. I really enjoyed harry potter while the series/movies were originally releasing. and I was excited to finally go to Islands of Adventure and ride the cool harry potter ride. and my fat ass didn't fit. Just didn't fit, you can't ride this ride, no options. I rode every single other ride at Universal studios/Islands of adventure (pre veloci-coaster, Hulk was in maintenance but I rode Dueling dragons and Rip, Ride, rock-it!). And that did it for me. I was fat, but far less fat than I am now. I still have no problem riding any ride at disney. but I could not fit in that harry potter ride. I was embarassed and unhappy. Finding out that JKR is a transphobe and constantly fucking with her series in every single worst possible way. figures.

The thing is that I have made almost this exact post again and again and again, across multiple threads over the years. Recently, it feels like I make it at least once a month. People actively know they can't be doing it. If I can be frank, I'm tired of telling everyone what they already know. This has been site policy since day 0 and it was site policy back on the old place too. This is not a new thing, people just seem to think that if things get bad enough then the rules stop applying for some reason or if they can use ideology to justify it then it's fine. People need to realize that there is a huge gap between "I get why someone would do it, but you can't be doing political violence" and "We need to do political violence and here is an excerpt from an essay about why it is essential that you should read while I point to other potential targets." People have literally tried to argue that we should change the rule because they seem to think this is some ideological thing despite the fact I keep telling people it isn't, despite explaining, on multiple occasions, that I get emails about this shit and it puts us all at risk.
