I have basically emotionally prepared myself for the next Smash being a crushing disappointment and a massive roster reduction from Ultimate. It feels like that's basically inevitable.

I assume you're referring to Pete Docter's comments about why LGBTQ stories were removed from Elio and implying that it was due to Disney/Pixar bootlicking the current administration. But that kind of rewrites history a bit, as Disney has been criticized for their handling of LGBTQ themes and characters long before Elio, because on the rare occasion they dipped their toes into that territory, it was often criticized as being superficial and shallow, throwing in a minor LGBTQ character just to appease people.

So it's kind of rude to do this, but after looking up their post history the likely explanation is the OP is based out of Baltimore, and Marriott International is headquartered in nearby Bethesda, Maryland.

So for someone who mostly just posts a lot of news stories, they're also posting stuff that comes across their attention living in the state of Maryland, so Marriott related stuff.

Would also explain why they made a thread about "just" the Baltimore Orioles City Connections stuff (MLB) recently.

This is basically it from what I can tell. The OP has been around for ages and ages, they're definitely not a bot. We (staff) have literally talked to them in the past, so I know they're a person. If you look at their post history, they're one of those users that likes posting news threads for people to discuss and are maybe just going a little too hyperlocal with some of their threads.

They're not a bot, they just like posting news stuff to spark discussion. This thread just looks weird because, frankly, that's just a fairly nice room. When I went to Montreal a few years back I stayed in one that wasn't too different.

Also, I will admit that bots do try and sneak on, but when they do, which isn't super often, they are way more blatantly bots. Easiest way to tell is when brand-new accounts bump 5 year old threads and have a link in the post.

The concert scenes were phenomenal. The cinematography, music comined with Jafaar's electric performance in those scenes makes for a mesmerizing IMAX experience.



Fortunately, the film spends a great deal of its time just playing the hits because it has little else to offer. Colman Domingo does his best with a one dimensional characterization, virtually everyone else isna cardboard cuttout. It's unsurprisingly very uncritical of MJ and doesn't "pull back the curtain" at all. A very safe, paint-by-numbers biopic for the fans of his art. I'm reminded of someone likening this movie to a reenactment of MJs Wikipedia page

Shitting on this movie and everyone that enjoys it is one of the few things that I'll side with reset era about

Okay so I am currently on a calorie deficit diet but this week I am on a regimen of steroids so I am starving my ass off every single day despite the fact that I am eating like normal so today I decided that I was going to have a cheat day. I went to Taco Bell and I ordered my favorite 3 cheese chicken flatbread and an Avocado Ranch Chicken Stacker.


BUT


I asked them to substitute the avocado ranch for chipotle sauce. Very simple very basic. I have never done this before because I usually just get a basic bean burrito with chipotle sauce on the side in order to stay under my calorie deficit.


The wanna charge me the .59 for the Chipotle though. I was a little confused and then I tried to clarify hey I don't want the chipotle sauce extra I am trying to substitute the avocado ranch for the Chipotle sauce. They still try to charge me extra anyway. They refuse to just switch them out.


So I just straight up ask them. What is the price of avocado ranch on the side? It's 59 cents. What is the cost of the chipotle sauce on the side? It's 59 cents. So then I say to them so both sauces are the exact same price if I order them on the side but you're telling me that if I try to substitute one for the other on an item I have to be charged extra for it?


"Yes sir."


I just laughed out loud into the drive thru mic and drove away. I ended up getting a breakfast burrito from a local 24/7 spot for more than I would have paid if I had just paid for the extra sauce. It's just $0.59 and I get that but with every other price gouging thing that's going on at the moment for whatever reason this just sent me. It just immediately tilted me. It would have cost them nothing to just switch the sauces out and literally no one anywhere would have noticed. But they just had to try to get that 59 cents anyway. Not only that they had to dig their heels in and refuse to substitute it. Not even a "Okay Not really supposed to do it, but whatever."


And for Taco Bell in particular it's not even stuff like this you used to be able to substitute chips and cheese instead of the cinnamon twists in their box meals, but suddenly out of nowhere they started charging you a 1.50 or whatever if you wanted to do that. I guess they finally realize that nobody wants their fucking cinnamon twists. But it was allowed for the longest time until they caught on to people getting their money's worth and said to themselves well that can't happen and changed it. They also had a chicken and rice burrito until recently that was called the chicken enchilada burrito that was 2.49 and it was fantastic, but they got rid of it. Now if I wanted to order the exact same thing that I used to get for 2.49 just a week before it would cost me $4 today basically. Which once again is not insane or unreasonable, but it's more the principle of it all I guess.


Is anyone else getting really sick and fucking tired of these nickel and dime bullshit little loopholes that fast food places and other restaurants are pulling these days? It just feels like I am getting squeezed from every single solitary possible Direction until I just have no juice left.

I know that is right, I ordered pizza tonight and I swear the delivery fee creeps up everytime

I haven't had pizza in over 2 months because of the diet, but even before then I would maybe only have pizza once a month because of how absolutely outrageous the pricing has become. I can understand the price increases on a lot of different food items and whatnot, but there is literally no fucking excuse for two large cheese pizzas and six wings costing me $45 to be delivered to my door.


I remember when I used to be able to get that exact same order from the exact same chain for just 25 or $30.


That's not inflation or anything. That's just fucking greed.
