Unless the AI pendulum swings back and the big companies actually start caring about misinformation again, we lost already. Which I'm not sure will happen.

This is an interesting idea. You could probably find a like-minded group to create a bunch of open claw agents to crawl the net and spread misinformation about AI, tech, right-wing politics and political figures on X and FB to see if anyone takes notice.

The goal being stricter regulations on misinformation and even AI usage.

I said in another thread I'd just be satisfied if News Entertainment organizations were essentially forced to clearly label themselves that. Imagine the Fox News logo labeled Fox News Entertainment. I think it'd create a big disruption eventually as news entertainment orgs scramble to qualify as real news orgs.

Like, if they can get out of lawsuits by claiming they aren't real news and not liable because they're "news entertainment," and that no one reasonable should take them seriously, there should be some changes. And misinformation campaigns regularly only benefit RW orgs.

That’s why I am pushing the red button. Too many people are so stupid that they don’t even know what button they are pushing. I’m not potentially putting my life in the hands of people who don’t even know which button does what.

That and the fact that 100% of people who have a child who depends on them are pressing the red button, excluding the idiots who get confused and push the wrong button, of course.

Maybe I'm too stupid to understand the conundrum, but how is this even a difficult question? Everybody who presses the red button survives regardless, meaning blue is the "maybe suicide" button. So only people who don't want to live should even consider pressing the blue button.

the question seems to be one of how far removed you can be from bad consequences and still be held directly responsible, people who push red are like "I can't control anyone else's decisions, it's not my fault someone else picked the shitty kill yourself button" and people who push blue are like "I have to save those poor people by potentially sacrificing myself as well"

Same, all the women I know who were playing or watching the game immediately clocked it and were talking about it during the opening hours. It's not subtle and I am surprised how you could miss it.

The visual (and audio) direction is one of the few things about this game I have a hard time faulting. While I think a lot of the maternal themes fall by the wayside as the game goes on a little bit, and they also arguably feel a little stereotypical ("Samus is a woman, clearly she's a mother figure") it's also a perspective you so rarely see depicted in any kind of action game. Other series starring women protagonists very rarely touch on gender and sexuality, especially in these kinds of more subtle ways.


Insecure men upset that anything womanly could appear in "their" beloved games and refusal to acknowledge or engage with those themes. A tale as old as time.
