Why doesn’t Star Fox eat the bunny guy?

Media literacy test will always be whether or not one thinks that TFA is just "ANH" again. Without really acknowledging the reasons why it does purposefully have parallels and HOW it plays with those parallels in order to reintroduce a franchise to a modern generation of viewers. Exhibit A would be Rey being the inverse of Luke in pretty much every way, and her feeling far more grounded and human as a result. A film shouldn't exist to serve a franchise it should exist to actually tell a story. Lucas had three films to sell the fall of Anakin and somehow it still feel rushed and disjointed with it being largely agreed upon that the first two PT films are straight up skippable due to how much effort was put into the Clone Wars rehabilitation project. Like cool a bunch of factions that get thrown out/ignored are introduced in TPM meanwhile...literally no one in the cast has a character arc....meaning the second film does genuinely have to work double time to basically ignore much of what the first film established. Queens have terms, Naboo is irrelevant despite there being a war there prior, Jar Jar is almost gone entirely, we pretty much have to ignore the age gap between Padme and Anakin, etc.

I agree and I feel that's part of the issue with the sequel trilogy going forward. Like what do you build off of? You basically reset all of the other development in the previous trilogies and then replaced the factions with worse copies. There's not enough meat to build expanded universe stories in the ST timeframe.

Not true. There have already been comics, novels, multiple TV shows, etc. that prove otherwise.

So what's the story The Force Awakens exists to tell rather than a franchise to serve?

I agree with you, and I said as much. I have no problem with the inclusion of asexualism. But highlighting important distinctions between asexualism and other queer identities is not trivializing the asexual identity. I actually think that the distinctions are so severe that to not acknowledge them would have the opposite effect of trivializing the history of the LGBTQ identity.

It's funny because "Asexuals" technically don't even fucking exist. Turns out it's about "not feeling attraction to other people", not about being completely absent from experiencing sexual lust. Most asexual people beat their fuckin' meat to porn, hentai, etc., making them pretty much no different than straight dudes.

And then you have the women, some of them being former town bicycles, who experience some kind of identity crisis and go "erm yeah, I identify as asexual, cuz I don't feel anything special when they stick in it me."

Hell, the GAF thread even brings up "cishet ace" several times. Yeah, because "a heterosexual asexual" makes total sense. 

Royalan was right to distance them from actual queer pride, and of course that was problematic because it robs them of any possible oppression points.

That reminds me of a mistake I made: A while back, I said Melody Shreds was part of the burka thread, but that was inaccurate, because he only posted like two or three times in those threads.

It's so obvious (and hilarious) how Nep has zero respect or camaraderie with Dubs, but Dubs does everything he can to protect and shield her. He even nearly wiped out PoliERA and had a brief mini-revolt to protect her.
