Finished the Quake 2 N64 campaign. Still a solid shooter. Ammo balance is a bit off but beside that, fun campaign.
Imagine playing a game in 2026 where you can actually die. In the 40 hours I spent playing FF16 I didn't die once. Must've died at least 15 times in Quake 2 N64 and the campaign is like 3 hours at most.
"Play indie games" and when you do a lot of the time they're shittier versions of yesteryears AAA titles. I'll just hook up the old machines and play those classics instead.
Oh well, time to wait and see how they fuck up that God of War trilogy remake.
I’m considering the new Steam controller even though I don’t need it and have the old one and never really used it.

Me too. Though there are other controllers i'd also like to buy, and if I'm not careful I'll spend a lot of money to play about 5 hours a month with a controller total
I'm gonna get the new Steam controller. But I also expect to be waiting- it'll probably sell out in like 30 seconds.

It's suddenly hitting me that nobody talks about the post Bungie Halo games. It's a complete empty void of gamer discourse
Nobody knows or cares that Halo 4 is in the MCC (I forgot)
Nobody knows there is a videogame called Halo 5. An actual game called Halo 5.
Halo Infinite was fun for 2 weeks and then disappeared from the collective gamer memory, mine included Does anyone still play it? Who knows
They just don't trigger any kind of memory or emotion at all.
And now they are redoing Halo CE for the third time
Halo Infinite felt like they finally figured out what they wanted it to be in the last eight months and cobbled something together. It was alright but hollow with all the recycled content. If they didn’t scrap the sequel, it could’ve been good if they built off it. Better direction than 4 and 5. Actually, I don’t know if it was cancelled. I’m assuming.
I actually liked halo 4. I finished 5 and infinite, both total dogshit, sad to see tbh. Halo is over.

Sounds like Metroid Prime 4
Metroid Prime 4 was actually them building what they had in mind back when they started the game at Bandai and releasing it anyway because Nintendo wasn't going to start from scratch twice. The credits roll for that game is pretty insane. 90% contractors and even contractors in lead positions.
It has marvelesque dialogue because that was popular when they started working on it a decade ago.
When I played Metroid Dread I was already surprised they would just drop a direct story sequel to Metroid Fusion ~10 years later.
With references as if anyone actually remembered what happened in that game story wise.

MP4 was clearly a half baked game that was just finished as quickly as possible to ship because enough is enough.
They were definitely going for the open world Breath of the Wild style game but just ended up with Ocarina of Time. That whole overworld section is embarrassing and a complete waste of resources. There was actually more to do in OoT's overworld and that was on N64 and almost 30 years ago. It also made the game feel less connected than any other Metroid game ever. In fact, you couldn't even class it as a Metroid-vania given how unconnected the world is.
The only saving grace is the underlying engine is fantastic. The movement and combat are as good as ever and really show how far ahead of the curve MP1 really was.

It’s amazing how Metroid Prime 4 came and went after a week considering people have been begging for it since 2007.
Was playing Gex 2 and he said this at the start of a level.
"Last time I was here I was dressed as a woman"
Is Gex a trans icon?

*Takes a look at that new Mixtape game*
Wow, if there's such a thing as oscar bait, then this is Game Award slop.
Playing through someone's 90s childhood photos presented as an art piece. You can just imagine the middle aged reviewers soyfacing at the screen as they see things they remember from their childhood.

I might have to suspend my Xbox boycott

I don’t know much about it but people are defending Life is Strange and The Witness from association. By comparison, those are rich systems driven games.
It's dog shit, it has no gameplay.
An endless runner with some music in the background and soy slop.
I'm glad companies like Nintendo, Square Enix, Capcom etc. still make real games or remake them.

Spoiler: for when he deletes (click to show)(click to hide) I bet Jeff fucking loves Ready Player One
Giving Stellar Blade a try.
The combat in this feels off so far. Parry timing is real weird. Instead of deflecting the hits, you have to press the button earlier to time the end of startup animation with the hit. Parrying on a delay.
Feels like a guessing game instead of me actively reacting to the combat.

Finally committed to getting a GPU when I travel home in a week and the Pragmata bundle is dead
Fortnite Zero Build got some gameplay updates/changes. For the better! To my understanding, they're just testing these new features. Hope they keep them! Makes it way more fun.
They're also doing an Overwatch collaboration. There's some new Overwatch-related weapons and items in the game. Four characters skins added. Spoiler: (click to show)(click to hide) It also appears that they've finally found Tracer's missing bum
I like how the Guardians of the Galaxy game does the 80s/90s nostalgia a million times better and is better written than Mixtape.
And beyond the nostalgia bait opening there's also an actual game attached.
the n64 castlevania's were good and anyone who disagrees is a cock sucking faggot!

Do I sell the Steamdeck or do I keep it? Switch 2 has completely destroyed it.
I bought it for 549 and it sells for ~450.
