This actually reminds me of something I should bring up. I think Nepenthe's police report led to the police actually doing something and perhaps contacting the neighbors. Because both of Nepenthe's neighbors went through the process of having their houses blurred on Google Maps, notably Nepenthe's family did not. If you'll allow me to get back inside my van to get outside her house:
I think doing this is always hilarious because like... everything beside your house is visible. Your address is still the same. Your house is still on Zillow and everything else. What does this even accomplish?

At the same time, if you know where to look, it has all the usual AI trappings and is not like FFVI lacked of visual identity.
Is worth a look, but I don’t think it goes beyond “Mario in Unreal”.
I dunno if the “backlash” went beyond to “an old school SQ colleague (may have*) warned Sakaguchi of AI backlash.” Don’t use Pirat_Nation as a source of anything.

Anyways, it's pretty impossible for me to separate this game from the conditions it was made in and the game it's so desperately trying to follow up. There is, to a certain extent, a degree of "looking the other way" you have to do when you talk about a lot of games given most companies are not particularly kind to their creatives, but I guess I've found my line. I just can't really in good conscience take any particular message in this game at face value or with good faith knowing how it was made, it's all very capital-C Corporate Cynical. Knowing that the money this game makes is just going to be funneled into trying to do as much damage to all the people who made DE as special as it was as possible is just the shit cherry on top of the shit sundae.
The Eurogamer review in particular is grating. It almost feels like the enjoyment of this game is entirely to spite the people who refuse it on principle. Just bad vibes all around this game. It could be a very good CRPG but in a world where there's a lot of great CRPGs to play everything about this game feels dirty.

How using AI is comparable to (allegedly) stealing a company and screwing with their founders?
I’m very cynical about ZA/UM original founders being totally clean in the whole endeavor (given how the early rumors actually blamed them) but even so how you compare that with “we used AI to make concept art and gameplay prototypes.” Specially since Larian actually seem to backed off.
yeah but what if the AI takes the BBC pill?

Mamdani won. You guys keep saying that is a sign of the upcoming Progressive rise to dominance in US politics. He won in the middle of another Middle East shitshow and in the city with most Jewish population in the world outside Israel. Hell, Mamdani is so comfortable in the position that he decided to involve himself in another anti semitic controversy by posting a video about Nakba.
Not saying there is not hate and bigots… but you guys seem to ignore that your religious group has not been the only terror target in recent times.
Mamdani deserves hate. Why you ask? Is it because he's a brown Muslim trying to spread Sharia law and communism?
No. It's because he's libbed as fuck, just like AOC.
https://www.politico.com/news/2025/10/15/mamdani-apology-nypd-00610378
Quote:Mamdani first pledged to apologize for his incendiary 2020 remarks last month. Since then, he has been expressing his regret during private meetings with cops.
“Police officers that I spoke to, they don’t want a behind-closed-doors apology,” Fox News’ Martha MacCallum told the democratic nominee during Wednesday’s edition of The Story, his first appearance on the conservative network as a candidate. “They want a broad public apology for the things that you suggested about them. Will you do that right now?”
Mamdani took her up on the offer.
“Absolutely, I’ll apologize to police officers right here, because this is the apology that I’ve been sharing with many rank-and-file officers,” he said. “I apologize because of the fact that I’m looking to work with these officers. And I know that these officers, these men and women who serve in the NYPD, they put their lives on the line every single day.”
This is someone who is not about leftist policies. This is a person who will throw leftists under the bus like his very own wife ( https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/3/15/why-is-nycs-mamdani-facing-criticism-over-response-to-attacks-on-wife ), and the Free Palestine movement by paying lip service to Zionists.
Mamdani's problem is that he isn't left enough. He's more than willing to use leftist causes and buzzwords but is not willing to go far enough. That is the problem with the DSA. They're a group of libs larping as leftists to draw back the disenfranchised to the Democrat plantation.
but y'all ain't ready to talk about that.

Lots of people on "both sides" are under the impression that literally everything about AI is somehow new but it's not, it's just that capacity and capability has finally become accessible. What is AWS or Azure? Literally a bunch of networked giant server racks. What is AI? Literally the same exact thing.
LLMs date back to the 1990's, learning networks to the 1970's. We just didn't have any processors to run these at scale effectively before CUDA. You needed a supercomputer, which access to has always been restricted because they operate like the old mainframes did.
Oh, and what are supercomputers? These days, they're literally a bunch of networked giant server racks.
Remember when everybody was Folding@Home on their PS3's? Same exact thing.
WOW SCI FI MAGIC:
Or, you know, a real thing the Air Force did:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3_cluster
NCSA did one with PS2's: https://web.archive.org/web/20041120084657/http://arrakis.ncsa.uiuc.edu/ps2/
A bunch of discrete processors crunching incredibly tiny programs on massive data sets is everything about the world we live in and has been for this entire century. Your cell phone literally relies on this. The reason PS2 and PS3 were used in the past and GPU's have been the modern tool is because shaders are literally this. The Vector Units in the PS2, the SPU's in Cell, the shader units in GPUs are all about crunching tiny programs fast but incredibly limited in their broader usage. They comparatively to a CPU do one thing amazing and nothing else well. That's why you want hundreds or thousands or trillions of them operating at once. "Cloud computing", "virtual servers" (like hosts The Bire), etc. is just the inverse because a single CPU can handle all the tasks, they still gain from being networked and used in clusters just like your local system gains from having more cores.
This is why y'all aren't serious. The problem isn't AI, it's technology in general that enables capitalism, colonialism and white supremacy and global degrowth back to subsistence living needs to be done immediately no matter the cost.

The media and cops are already aiding Joanne in a cover up of Joanne's hate crime:
https://www.kuow.org/stories/bellevue-man-charged-with-murder-in-stabbing-death-of-uw-student wrote:In charging documents, King County prosecutors accuse Christopher Michael Leahy of "viciously" murdering Juniper Blessing, a 19-year-old University of Washington student who was found stabbed to death in the laundry room of her Seattle apartment building on May 10.
...
According to the King County Prosecutor's Office, there is currently no evidence that the crime was motivated by hate. If investigators find further evidence to indicate a hate crime, that can be referred to prosecutors to consider additional charges. Quote:Charging documents state that, in the minutes prior to the homicide on May 10, Leahy allegedly stalked another UW student across Nordheim Court and into the laundry room where Blessing was later found dead. That student reported to police that the man told her he was checking on laundry and she left the room.
Prior to the stabbing, prosecutors allege that tracking apps and video recordings place Leahy inside campus buildings and also attempting to enter private homes in Seattle's Ravenna neighborhood that borders the University of Washington. Prosecutors also state that Leahy returned to the area of the crime two days later.
...
Footage reviewed by police places a man appearing to be Leahy in the laundry room where Blessing was found between 9:45 p.m. and 10 p.m., prior to the time of her death, according to charging documents. The footage appears to show the man inspecting the camera's power cord before the footage cuts off. Police noted that the power cord to the camera was disconnected when they found it.
Following the release of those images, a family member and a former classmate of Leahy's called police.
The former classmate told police Leahy recently sent her a video message after having no contact for a long time. She noted another classmate was also contacted and they felt it was odd. Detectives used the video message to match Leahy with the man shown in videos from Nordheim Court.
