I thought you guys were talking about the AI thread that made it two posts before being closed by B-Dubs. Why is it concern trolling that Era's owners are going in on AI? Is that not something we should be made aware of??

I'm guessing it's because the now-permed OP was using it as yet another avenue to get some "both sides" discussion going for AI by utilizing an absurd piece of "gotcha" logic about the network that hosts this website.

Obvs I don't know their post history so I won't comment on the ban since perma only happens with some pretty severe amounts of rope with which to hang oneself, however nothing here says "both sides" to me:

Integrating AI into their development pipeline is worrisome and I don't like it being handwaved by an admin as just concern trolling, especially without any clarification of why it's trolling to be wary of such a development.

It is confusing. Like can someone else make that thread? Or will anyone making a thread about that get banned?

I would @ B-Dubs but he is literally here posting around us and ignoring it so I don't want to cop a ban for daring to ask directly, lol. Hopefully he'll chime in and give any sort of clarification.

But terfs managed to swindle a bunch of people into believing you can't. Hence, nothing ever makes a reference to a person's current sex, only the marker on their birth certificate, because sex can change, so you need to start making up other rules in order to get away with discrimination. Like, "biological sex" no longer refers to a person's current biological sex, it refers to their oldest observed sex, even if that was wrong.

Which is itself a bit of a trap, because then we end up back at "oh then that's cut and dry, we'll just divide everything based on actual current biological sex", but does that mean a person magically goes from cis to trans only at the moment of medical intervention? That's silly. Obviously they were already trans, otherwise they wouldn't be changing sexes in the first place. And trans people who don't undergo any medical intervention are just as valid, that's why we started using the term transGENDER. Not because you can't change sex, but because biological sex is a myopic and exclusionary way of looking at things.

Usually they try to argue that sex isn't rigid and then cite that there's some very special snail that can change its sex (don't ask how this relates to humans) but I see now they're just completely convinced that taking hormones actually changes your sex.

Anyway, someone should ask if humans can change race too

At the end of the day, yes, ResetEra is owned by MOBA, but they don't interfere with or influence anything that goes on here. They let staff handle the site in the way we've been handling it for years. What MOBA does with AI is their own business and it doesn't affect us and we aren't being forced to use it in any

That poster was constantly making statements in bad faith, disguised as wanting "nuanced" conversations. But the nuance always had to be positive and on their terms. I NEVER saw them enter threads like AOC's mud-water one to talk about what governments (federal (lol) or local) can do to curb threats on citizens whose lives are being destroyed literally by the existence of new data centers.



Maybe those conversations were being had in the Containment thread. I wouldn't know, I have no interest in going in there. But that poster made no effort to give the impression they wanted to discuss that aspect of AI. Whenever they emerged from said Containment, it was either to promote AI or complain that other users weren't receptive to said promotion.
