Makes sense if you want to grow this franchise to make it available in as many places as possible.

I am just going by what Phil Spencer said in 2024. These franchises aren't growing and so they are making them available in more places. Right now it's more or less the same people who played previous games are buying this one, but of course there are new players too, as well as new people will come in on other platforms.



There is no such thing as - "There is no need for growth". Their actions say otherwise.

Let's go word by word with my statement so that you and ANYBODY ELSE can just read and move on without replying to me with some sort of snark remark.



I saw the CCU was higher than it was for Forza Horizon 5, which in a way makes sense, there are more people who are exposed to the franchise now, and my statement was about how exposing this franchise to more people will help it grow, which was exactly what Phil Spencer said they wanted to do.



I hope we are done here. If you or anyone else is trying to "gotcha" me or see some hidden meaning in my messages, I suggest you not interacting with me 
at all to save us some time. It's quite useful actually to see exactly who is responding to me.

I've been tempted to make this thread multiple times over the past several years, but I really am just about fully befuddled.



My friend, let's call him Jeff, experienced some employment troubles post COVID like many folks did. He bounced around between a couple jobs in 2021/2022, including some stuff his dad hooked him up with, but nothing stuck. He's been kind of coy about these jobs but I know at least one he was fired from. Around the same time he got really into a certain online game and met his girlfriend and became very attached to her. He was also living at home with folks and miserable because of it; from how he described things (especially with his dad), that was the major pain point in his life that was making him unhappy, especially since he had briefly lived on his own before. He's 32 right now BTW.



In 2022, our mutual friend had a management position and got Jeff a job to help him out, and while he had to commute a good distance for it, the job itself was local to the city where he planned to move (about 40 minutes away), so the plan was that he put up with some obnoxious travel time for a while but then it would pay off once he'd made enough cash to move out. At the same time, another mutual friend of ours, who also lived in the same city where Jeff was now working, had a roommate who was moving out at the perfect time, and was willing to let Jeff move in even without paying a deposit or first month's rent; these two go especially far back so this offer of generosity did not surprise me, but it was still considerate and very well timed.



Well, what seemed like a perfect match did not materialize. Jeff apparently had an anxiety attack at work one shift and then refused to show up anymore, and also never took the offer to move in with his other friend. After this, Jeff's mentality and mental health deteriorated so swiftly that he became confident he could no longer work any job. He became extremely unreliable in regards to spending time with us; we were in a "core group" of six people who had all worked together in the past, probably lived together to some extent, hung out a lot and also regularly played D&D, and naturally did what we could to encourage everyone to be included in whatever was going on, but this was around the time Jeff would just be staying in Discord calls with his girlfriend and forget plans he made with us, leave D&D early or bail entirely, etc. It became a real chore to continue to make space for him, but if he's dating someone, then I guess I understand his priorities even though he was as unhappy as I've ever seen him.



Then in 2024 he ends up moving across the country (from Washington state to the east coast) to live with his girlfriend and her parents. He had drifted so far away from us anyway that I was hoping him living with the most important person in his life, and being away from his folks, would actually help him a lot. He talked to me about how he was going to propose to her, and talked her siblings like they were already his siblings-in-law. But even though he was still jobless, just playing games online together to try and find some way to spend time with him was like pulling teeth. The time difference obviously hurt, but his attentiveness to just be included in things did not improve, although he was medicated with anti-depressants now.



Then earlier this year he breaks up with his girlfriend and moves back home with his parents. This was obviously worrying, but he said he missed us a lot and wanted hang out with us again. I have a weekly date night where I hang out with a guy I'm kinda/sorta/it's-complicated seeing, so those personal evenings are really important to me, but I still invited Jeff to watch a movie with us one evening, and that's the only time he's made time for any of us or followed through on plans since he moved back. I bring this up now because the same friend who got him a job back in 2022 (that Jeff fumbled hard) invited him to hang out this weekend where we could all play D&D again, and also set him up to help dog sit for another friend of ours while he and his wife went on a weekend trip. Jeff enthusiastically agreed to both, and acknowledged doing both literally the day before these plans were set to happen. Then, yesterday, the day of us playing D&D and Jeff covering for our friend's dogs, he says he's too sick and can't do either (he's bailed on other recent commitments with me with the same reason), so he's staying home in a Discord call all day. Obviously everyone is disappointed, but the friend who got him a job and hosted the D&D for the weekend was fucking furious. He didn't express any of this to Jeff directly, but he's made it clear that he's done throwing lifelines to him and making space for him to be included when he constantly renegs. Said friend is in an even stronger management position now than in 2022, and has constantly talked about all the job opportunities he could make happen for Jeff, including super straightforward and low-stress stuff, but none of that is happening now since he fails to follow up on commitments constantly, even for social things. Probably worth noting too that he was never able to get any kind of disability or benefits, so he has $0 income (though we don't mind covering things like gas, food, entertainment, etc when inviting him to stuff).



Whew, okay, sorry. I know that was a lot, but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced something like this with a loved one. I've had friends go through rough patches but I've never had someone I still want to spend time with and is still so important to my main group of friends just become so unreachable even when we try to get him involved and materially help him out. I was hoping him moving in with his girlfriend would help, and then I was hoping him moving back home would help; at least I'd get to see him regularly! But that just isn't wh
at's happening.

Your average American is a kind of dumb, semi-religious, generally kind person and most aren't really political outside of being mad when gas and grocery prices go up. Era doesn't understand the MAGA movement dragged a lot of anti-establishment, apolitical nonvoters into the fold who aren't really traditional conservatives or evil groypers. We also saw some 2x Obama voters flip to Trump, then Biden and back Trump. The people are retarded.
