Kind of in that situation right now, we live in a purplish/lean blue area of the country, without a doubt most of our neighbors are likely Dems, or Dem adjacent. But all of my interactions with our neighbors have been kind, friendly and neighborly.

We live in an older development (think in the 60's, somewhat rural (each lot has a half acre or more).

Anyways we are having a serious plumbing emergency, and my wife reached out to our neighborhood Facebook group looking for plumbing recommendations. The wife of the dem plumber said her husband could come over and take a look. He came over in his Prius with a pride flag and Kamala sticker on it, super friendly, looked at our quote from two other plumbing companies and said they were overcharging and said he could do it for a 3rd of the bigger plumbing companies quotes.

It's a bit of a struggle honestly to think about

I am so tired of people automatically assuming the absolute worst from a single post and trying to bury the person just because they are a bit different from the current consensus or whatever. I am guilty of it myself at times for sure over the years, but Jesus man it has gotten so bad in the past year. Hell it's happened to me just these last few days. It's just ridiculous.

I have never seen a community so ready to eat itself at the drop of a hat when certain topics pop up. I can go through thread after thread where its an adult mature conversation and then suddenly *insert topic* pops up and suddenly we are all raised by wolves thirsting for internet blood. Posters i see in random game threads or OTs who are the nicest posters I know in those settings are ready to shank someone in other threads because X got brought up and Y said this about it. People who I rarely see get controversial are ready to square up. Then the thread passes by and we all go back to just bullshiting around like nothing happened and as if a dozen people didn't just skirt the edge of a permaban. Its crazy.

Thats not how a discussion forum should work in my opinion. I get given the current climate everyones nerves are piano strings ready to sing at the slightest touch, but I just wish we could all take a deep breath sometimes and realize it might not be as bad as you think on the first read. Instead of immediately burying someone just clarify a few things first and save everyone the trouble.

It's extra funny when it feels so obvious that it's a bad idea like that new Horizon game. It really makes you wonder what the devs themselves are thinking. Am I somehow more in tune than they are or do they also think this is a bullshit idea? Sure, there is a possibility it's a huge success and I eat crow, but the chance for that happening seems quite similar to winning the lottery.

I don’t exactly like the character but is funny to me how a bunch of ERA are fine with him because either memes or Baki being so over the top to take seriously beyond crazy fights. Any other fictional character that is just as half as “problematic” as Hanma and most of the glazers will try to cancel the game or shit on any thread about it.

I think it comes down to Baki being a very mainstream anime and having a recent explosion in popularity on Netflix so RE doing its usual “ermmm this character is problematic” schtick just makes them look even more out-of-touch with normal people. You still have the local freaks like Echos and ClickyCarl throwing a shitfit but they’re very much in the minority in this situation.

That’s what is funny to me. The lack of principles as long something is mainstream enough with their online social group. Half of the people in that thread celebrating the character were in other threads bitching about “problematic stuff”.
