roundabouts do take up a ton more space for similar functionality

there are a lot of low traffic country roads where the extra engineering would be a big waste

That's why you make roundabouts that you can drive straight over. Take up less space and allow larger vehicles to navigate them easily.

I know they say never say never, but I will never subscribe to these companies who have basically turned their backs on the people who got them where they are and stream my day to day PC usage/gaming. If there was a single thing about this community as a whole that I could snap my fingers and change it would be this.

I am so tired of people automatically assuming the absolute worst from a single post and trying to bury the person just because they are a bit different from the current consensus or whatever. I am guilty of it myself at times for sure over the years, but Jesus man it has gotten so bad in the past year. Hell it's happened to me just these last few days. It's just ridiculous.

I have never seen a community so ready to eat itself at the drop of a hat when certain topics pop up. I can go through thread after thread where its an adult mature conversation and then suddenly *insert topic* pops up and suddenly we are all raised by wolves thirsting for internet blood. Posters i see in random game threads or OTs who are the nicest posters I know in those settings are ready to shank someone in other threads because X got brought up and Y said this about it. People who I rarely see get controversial are ready to square up. Then the thread passes by and we all go back to just bullshiting around like nothing happened and as if a dozen people didn't just skirt the edge of a permaban. Its crazy.

Thats not how a discussion forum should work in my opinion. I get given the current climate everyones nerves are piano strings ready to sing at the slightest touch, but I just wish we could all take a deep breath sometimes and realize it might not be as bad as you think on the first read. Instead of immediately burying someone just clarify a few things first and save everyone the trouble.

Yeah I was a tad reactionary there. The 360/PS3 generation improved over time, it was just very rough out of the gate. So many publishers wanted BIG and shiny but we ended up with stripped down modes and features vs. the previous gen counterparts. The first Madden game on 360 was a good example where the previous gen version rated quite a bit higher. Even a few years on, DMC4 was literally half a game and you ran backwards through the levels as Dante for padding. Shit was bananas. Yeah part of that was shitty Capcom management at the time, but you could feel the dev constraints with time and budget in a tangible way.

, but one advantage that generation had over all of them that came after is that a team of like 15-25 people could turn around a game in a single year. And the publishers could make often a profit off of it.

Look, for example, at the Tony Hawk games. Single player, multiplayer (even in 3/4 before the platforms had it), completely new maps, graphics competitive with most everything else, etc. Vice City was also done in a single year. 

Look at a company like Pandemic and their release list over just four years:

Because the PS3 generation was so long, Insomniac and Naughty Dog could both do trilogies plus other games. But they did four games in the previous gen that was half as long:

By the next generation this was no longer feasible. Teams had to at least double and now take at least two years for a single game. Nobody could release a game every year anymore, let alone two like Pandemic was doing. Now teams twice that size can spend seven years and millions and not even make a game just a single vertical slice. Naughty Dog now has like 400 or more people and Intergalactic has no release date, it's already been in development for six years and they've only released remakes/remasters over that time.

Absolutely. Nowadays, even with smart asset reuse, dev times will still take 4+ years like with God of War: Ragnarök.  

Tears of the Kingdom used the same overworld map as Breath of the Wild and was a 6 year endeavor. Whereas the previous golden era for 3D Zelda with Ocarina of Time--->Majora's Mask--->Wind Waker* was only 4 years for 3 games. 

If you would have told me 11 years ago we still wouldn't have a new Witcher game as of 2026, I wouldn't have believed you. And God help the poor Elder Scrolls fans. 

*Released in 2002 In Japan just about 4 years after Ocarina, WW wasn't released until 2003 in North America. Not that any of this matters, I'm just an autist.

I think part of it is that a metric fuckton of people on this forum have never played SC but have VERY strong opinions about it. It's unironically that peach meme. I genuinely would not be surprised if some believed that like, it genuinely isn't a playable EA game. Like obviously they haven’t released the campaign yet but at this point the campaign isn’t even the selling point of the game. The liver service aspect is. Because it is at this point essentially a live service game
