Benji have you looked into Erika Hall yet, she's mental and picks fights left right and centre but her textbook is a default textbook globally for all kinds of design stuff

Quote:Skepticism Toward Surveys: She is famously skeptical of quantitative surveys as a primary research method. She often argues that relying on broad survey data or "data-driven design" reinforces biases, as people often don't accurately report their own behaviors when asked direct, self-conscious questions.

Yeah, I don't think that's very diplomatic at all. Yeah, well, my take on surveys is that they're the most dangerous and misused of all potential research tools or methods in the realm of doing things online, you know, digital design, any of that market research, stuff like that. Think surveys are really, really overused and badly used and people should mostly just stop.
Erin: 02:08
Great. And why is that? Why are they so dangerous?
Erika: 02:10
I am a big believer in as many people as possible participating in design research, but surveys are the one thing that I think really, really takes a lot of expertise in order to conduct them and interpret them correctly and usefully. But the problem is there are so many survey tools out there. They're so easy to create and run. And the ease of running a survey is completely out of proportion to the expertise required to actually do it right, that it's a really, really popular thing to do and all sorts of really important decisions are being made based on totally bad, flawed evidence.

I find the takeover of the LGB by the TQIAs fascinating.
At some point, the people who worked so hard for recognition and equality have got to go full turncoat as these mentally unstable lunatics and lazy leftists destroy all the progress that has been made over decades.
We've seen signs of it, but I think a full revolt is coming.

This is why it's fun, she's both an excellent researcher and teacher and a complete lunatic
Thank you benji you've convinced me to never learn anything

It is very funny that in an effort for inclusivity they directly tell you what the least likely scenario is. It's like painting a picture with negative space.
Bottoms Up!

As a non-yank, every year I'm confused about the concept of Pride Month. Is it really something people celebrate outside of ad campaigns on twitter and bluesky? Do the gays really have more butt sex in June? Do people really wear the rainbow stuff sold at Target and Walmart? Is it like a continuous carnival or gay Ramadan?
Here were just have a pride parade weekend sometimes during the summer and that's it. We've adopted your Black Friday for reasons, but the Pride Month stuff has never really caught on.

The 40 - 50 year old white woman touching or hitting on a 20 or 30 something year old man of color is very common and accurate in Europe.
Kurdish friend of mine always had this problem in university where they would bring in tutors from the private sector and those old women (mostly spinsters) would touch his beard and pinch his butt, rub his back and everything. He didn't like it but as a man you can't complain about it nor do anything about it. You just have to accept that this ugly bitch in heat touches you.

"What is the definition of a woman?"
"Point of order, chair, point of order... It is Pride Month"

Isn't it amazing how such a simple question has turned into something "highly offensive"?
It's the opposite of critical thinking to deny that a question should even be asked. I'm not sure there's any precedent for this either. Like if someone were to ask a racist question about whether black people and white people are equal they'd be mad at the question but they'd also shut it down with an answer. In this case they have no good answer and they know it
Yeah when I watched him do that, I had to do a double take.
Every year my man Koizumi has a more expensive suit. He has certainly brought Nintendo to a higher level.

What’s great about these events in Japan is all you’ll see are signs and messaging in English.
You know who isn’t carrying English signs? The old guys hanging around Ueno park at night propositioning you to visit the public restrooms.

Queer theory is an entire academic field devoted to arguing queers don't exist.
Happy Pride Month!
we call it homosexuality but really it's homogenderality, homos are actually attracted to people identifying as the same gender, not the same sex

Yes. The gay who has the least butt sex in June is punished by being made straight.

Surprising that activists would tie their flag to a case like this that seems pretty open and shut. Also didn't the family collect like 500k through go fund me? Why is the defense lawyer "suspect"?

Damn, who knew grabbing a knife out of your backpack and stabbing someone in the chest would have consequences?

Why is there no Resetera thread on this modern day lynching?

The one argument that makes sense to me is the injustice that swift justice is served here while someone like Zimmerman gets to walk free, but surely the solution is to lock up people like Zimmerman too and not to let murderers like this go unpunished.

characterizing him as "just a kid" never worked in this case because then the guy he murdered would also be "just a kid" who was, apparently, "murdered for attending a track meet while being white"
