This Ninty Direct was pretty ass compared to the other gaming shows. Just a whole bunch of ports and little in the way of gameplay or release dates for the actually interesting stuff. Their biggest game, the Ocarina of Time remake, got no gameplay shown despite it supposedly releasing this year which was a very mind boggling decision. It was such a weird presentation for Nintendo to put out considering software sales are slow right now AND they just increased the system price so you'd think there would be some urgency to pull back the curtain on their games by nope, more secrecy.

I don't understand how Nintendo sees other gaming shows where they show off all sorts of crazy sprawling gorgeous games, small snippets from throughout the game that makes everyone pumped up to get to play it...and then they spend what feels like 10 minutes DEMONSTRATING FUCKING THUMB WRESTLING which is like the least needed video gamified activity ever

you don't even need a ball, you barely need rules, the only reason anyone has ever thumb wrestled for any reason is to do it IRL when there is literally nothing else to do

how do they not learn after like 20 years of showing off embarrassments like wii music and nintendoland (which was fun but made for a dismal E3)?

Can't say I entirely disagree. It's all PR babble nothing that they showed will move the needle significantly nor will a 25 year anniversary Xbox Series X model.
Xbox will continue to sink or maybe keep the small market they have left but Swich 2 and PS5 will stay ahead and Switch 2 makes Series S entirely obsolete.

Like Dunkey said in his last video, Microsoft lost to Concord era PlayStation. And why 25 years, Xbox won't last 25 days. 

There won't be anything significant on Project Helix that won't be on PS5 or Switch 2. This'll be like the Xbox One X a short adrenaline rush that runs out of gas soon enough. Another HALO, Fable, Gears of War won't save it. They can't rewind the clock 25 years, there isn't nostalgia for Xbox like there is for Nintendo. Someone was live streaming the movie yesterday on TikTok and my nephew broadcasted it to our TV so we could see it on a bigger screen. Yikes that movie was not good. I totally get why Gen Z doesn't go to movie theaters anymore. They just watch it for free in unconventional ways.

I guess most of the kids in my family including my kids are poor because that's the biggest reason  why they don't go to movies. I can see rich and upper middle class kids affording the luxury

I dunno why but something gives me the feeling that Amazon will be the first company to heavily use AI writing in it's films/shows. There was just something entirely weird/off about the absolutely shit-tier dialogue and awkward dead-time/wasted moments in between scenes of that He-Man movie. No way they could have paid writers to be that bad, unless it was AI influenced or potentially they just hired some rookies with no prior experience.

 

But beyond that … are you suggesting your okay condoning your nephew using your devices to promote piracy so long as you believe the movie is "not good"? 🤔

Seeing someone casually bash a film they pirated from a low quality copy off TikTok turns out to be mildly irksome to someone who makes income off selling fiction. Fiction that people have pirated.

This is quite a common thing I have seen in other mediums, where people are primarily focused on their own enjoyment without any consideration for the industry itself.

Game collectors is one that is pretty bad. I routinely see game collectors who spend thousands on games throughout the year and they will talk about wanting to play a new game but refuse to actually buy it new because of the cost and they will wait until it's cheaper pre-owned.

I totally understand costs being an issue but you do also have to support the things you care about because without that, things are just going to get worse and worse and you will end up no longer getting those things. Care about physical games? Make sure you actually buy them to show you care, especially as someone who can do so financially.
