Benji, you’re saying that tech stuff increasing in price is not due to AI companies gobbling up memory supply? I’ve assumed it’s the case from the news but when thebore.com says something I know it must be true

I'm saying why assume it is solely this when everything is increasing in price and the console manufacturers have matched inflation with their MSRP's? Microsoft and Sony aren't some dinky mom and pop, Microsoft especially is a major cloud provider, they sit at the top of the supply stack not after it. AI startups buying the non-contracted supply shouldn't effect the price for them in any significant way versus the inflation that raises the cost of everything they need that goes into the consoles and consistently boosts the price year after year.

I'm sure that it, as much as tariffs, has an effect on what they're projecting for their next consoles and this is why they can't let the current ones slip in price. Traditionally, they could let the consoles slip because manufacturing costs are also slipping and the next consoles will be fine but we've never had inflation this bad for any console generation before. They clearly aren't getting the savings they have in the past, and that's with console cycles that are increasingly less so probably because they got a lot of the savings up front by using the AMD chips they have. Any sudden additional cost crunch is going to throw the entire cycle out of wack and ensure not only that the prices can't slip but they have to go up. Microsoft/Sony could ignore the costs for the supply of consoles they're sitting on that were already manufactured, and they clearly have so far by waiting to up the price, but it's no longer about replacing the supply of the Series S/X, it's about the supply for the next console. If they weren't nearing that they could simply undersupply the market with consoles.

More broadly, I'm skeptical of any explanation that asserts a single variable explanation especially when it's making a covert argument that other variables that are effecting everyone else are not effecting the particular case. Microsoft can tank short-term or sudden supply issues, like say no games from their studios, in one part of their business, they can't tank inflation.

The fact I've seen so many users on Era currently promoting Astlibra Revision but not mentioning the rampart misogyny is just so depressing. And this is the "Revision" of the game! Keizo had an opportunity to change what he wrote as a teenager but dude doubled down on it.

Someone in a discord had been recommending the game for years and so I finally tried it out. It's so bad, y'all. I've seen fan fiction from 13 year old girls that are better than this. Plus an artist from Vanillaware came on to do "guest designs" and you can probably imagine how that went with female bosses. I pushed on because I don't like dropping games someone recommended me but I just couldn't play anymore it's too stupid. You can sniff a goddess' vag, for goodness sake.

Anyway, last night this person went off their rocket about me dropping the game. Mentioned a whole lot of nonsense like "the first playthrough is just set up for NG+" (said first playthrough being 60+ hours. I dropped at 45). And they agreed that the misogyny was bad but that they were asexual so it didn't register how bad it was. Anyway they were reined in by a mod but y'all I bring this up here, I mention it in my review in 52 games thread and the complete silence from fans here is deafening. I warn someone in a recommendation thread here that the game is extremely sexist and my comment is ignored. Astlibra Revision ain't even that good! It's the one of the most basic ARPGs I've played in a while.

That's a piss poor excuse. The implication that they think noticing misogyny has anything to do with sexual attraction makes them look way worse than if they simply said "I guess I just don't notice that stuff."
