I'm going to get an earful at work tommorow. My boss is going to announce the need for voluntary lay-offs on tuesday. Meanwhile Nintex is vlogging with his new friend in a Porsche on Instagram.

The corpo is interested and will be in touch in a couple of weeks when they know more about their merger.

That would be ideal 3 or 4 days wfh corporate job.
1 or 2 days side gigs and start ups

My boss said I couldn't have my cake and eat it too.

He's right I'm also eating his cake and taking his plate

They're sending me money so we can keep limping along.

First I announced I will voluntarily leave September or January.

Next the boss announced there will be lay offs within weeks.

If my corpo job isn't full time I will return as a freelance consultant

I'm sad but also rational they should've bet on me and the business guy. They bet on the boss and it was a poor bet.

This friday the black jew with the Porsche is going to roll me into a provincial government building.

He's outlined the business model and it's pretty great. The developers aren't sure exactly what I "do" but he has a template for succesful businesses and he needs my archetype.
He says I'm the key to the operation making money. Overall I think I'm just the controlling vote. He splits it even but it's the 3 of us vs 2 of them.

I've asked special leave for a private matter from my still current boss. Fingers crossed I get it and this all goes ahead.

I just kind of imagine that work in dutch is like, a few buildings were random people turn up to and they decide in the morning what the business does depending on who is in today is then go home at night and start again the next day

I genuinely enjoy the process of selecting ingredients and making it myself. It's embarrassing.

The leave is approved. The black guy send me the presentation of his magnum opus.
A galaxy brain process with 9 verification and audit steps.

He says this is maybe a little early but he's anxious to learn how well I can present so he wants me to present it to the government people.

I recently enjoyed the film Amadeus again

while I know the film is very much fictional, when searching around for more context, I hate the crop of "WELL ACTUALLY, DID YOU KNOW" articles and videos surrounding the film

DID YOU KNOW THAT SALIERI DIDN'T ACTUALLY KILL MOZART?! well yes, and also he didn't actually kill him in the film either?

I had seen articles like this for years and didn't look into it too much, it seemed obvious that the film was highly fictionalized, but this time I looked further into the details, and it turns out all the "well actually" shit masks a bunch of details that makes the story more interesting?
  • mozart had been complaining about a cabal of upper crust who were blocking his advancement, led by salieri
  • when mozart died, there were immediately tons of local rumors that salieri had poisoned him, to the point where other composers actively avoided his company
  • "actually, salieri and mozart were colleagues who collaborated on a piece shortly before his death," well gee wouldn't that have been an excellent opportunity to start poisoning him?
  • when in the hospital with dementia, salieri confessed to killing mozart, much like in the film

now I don't really think salieri killed mozart, but the pervasive culture of "correcting the record" actually kept me from finding out interesting details like these, due to distilling it all to a sound bite and presumably not wanting to muddy the waters

There's a commentary to be made about our cultural elevation of trivia in the place of knowledge and its use as sort of a defensive reaction against the inability of perfection in situations where it wasn't actually pursued. The listicles of trivia are almost never interested in any kind of holistic picture of a work, so it's somewhat amusing that that makes up such a dominant part of "pop culture analysis" especially from people who do nothing else.

I would personally contend that no film could be historically accurate, but in the case of Amaedus (and many other films that get this treatment) it seems like the wannabe historian would be better off researching the film and the play itself:
Quote:From the beginning, writer Peter Shaffer and director Miloš Forman both were open about their desire to create entertaining drama only loosely based on reality. Forman admitted that neither the play nor the film was ever "intended to be a documentary", calling the film a "fantasia on the theme of Mozart and Salieri".

Earlier a TV set to CNN was on in my vicinity. Chyron was "Olympian arrested for vandalizing pool". Inexplicably they're interviewing a guest who just talks about Jeffrey Epstein and the super rich. The guest is a multimillionaire. They end the segment by talking about Taylor Swift getting married in Madison Square Garden and wishing her good fortune.

Really feeling like we're in the end times.

Presented it to the government people. The black guy was shocked how well I did.
They're forking over 200k to keep the project running until the real money rolls in.

someone should release a high profile modern game with an anti piracy codebook just for the hell of it

like when you're booting up gta6 it says "please enter the third word on the fourth column"

yes it would immediately appear online and not serve any anti piracy purpose whatsoever, but that's not the point

I imagine when people hear my power's out they probably think I'm suffering from lack of stalking people on the internet or posting hate speech or whatever, and it's like no, phones exist these days. I don't even get Titanfall shakes. The worst part is definitely the whole inability to make food and shower (I know these aren't issues for the average Era poster) and DO MOST ANYTHING WHEN IT'S DARK. I don't have candle lamps and the battery lamps are all those LED EMERGENCY types that will just slowly blind you instead, I'm reluctant to try and use my grill for making tea or whatever, I have no icebox or daily ice man, going back to 1776 is not a viable option.

Underrated is finding out just how often I check the time on things that are instead blank when the power's out and have to go out of my way to find out what the time is. In the second day I find myself already guesstimating by using the sun's location rather than pulling out my phone. "Maybe my mom still has that sundial" I begin to wonder... Existential

but seriously you should consider

https://www.amazon.com/EF-ECOFLOW-Portable-Charging-Generator/dp/B0B9XB57XM/

everyone is always like "oh my power doesn't go out often enough to justify that" but you gotta stop pussing out and just bite the bullet and get one, it's one of those things that when you need it, you NEED it, and it helps so much, and not just for outages

it can power a fridge and lamps and fans overnight, and is much lighter than you'd expect, the technology has really been improving

this is an older model so it goes on sale all the time

Couple weeks ago my power went out as I was doing one arm pull downs on my shoddy Rocky 4 rope and pulley rig. Sitting there in pitch dark as a 90lb dumbbell is swinging around. Kept going, though. I felt like batman or halo.

Does the power just go out regularly for no reason over there?
