Bruh. They blatantly stole models. Even if somehow you don't believe what your eyes should be telling you. People were able to identify the exact coordinate transforms they used very early on. The catch is someone can do that on the internet because those people don't care about the legality of getting those models. Nintendo as a company cannot do that unless the people at pocket pair willingly hand Nintendo their models, which they obviously would never do, because they know what they did.

I think what's annoyed me about this whole Palworld discussion is that it constantly bounces back and forth between legality and morality. So much of the defence is focused on what Palworld is legally allowed to do in spite of the moral ambiguity of their actions, but then so much of the critique on Nintendo is focused on what they're morally allowed to do despite the legality of their actions. Like, I'm not saying you can't argue in Poketpair's favour here, but you have to pick a lane. Personally, I think this whole thing should be a moral debate well before it's a legal one (especially considering most people's lack of expertise in this area) and if you want to argue that those Palworld designs aren't blatantly copying Pokemon designs from an artist's point of view, then that's fine. If you think it should be OK for studios to copy the designs of other artists to this degree, then that's fine too. But you can't be sitting here like "teeeccchhhnniiccaalllyyy Palworld didn't copy anything because legally speaking, Nintendo hasn't proven they lifted 3d assets" when the argument against Nintendo's response isn't about legality at all.

You want to discuss the morality of (allegedly) stealing the designs of corporate mascots of a billion dollar corpo infamous for enforcing they copyright to insane degrees.

While Uncle's post may be provincial and offers a dubious theory the more important point is that "people suffering" is a meaningless and irrelevant complaint. It's not an objective measure, only a relative one. "People suffering" compared to some impossible imaginary fantasy is stupid and can be dismissed because it can never be a satisfied condition. "People suffering" compared to the past can be dismissed because it's false. "People suffering" compared to other parts of the world can be dismissed because the "solution" will cause more or is otherwise ethically "wrong" by the same people's standards as it would demand incredible Western imperialism and capitalism.

Yet this dude not only believes all three are objective true and such that it doesn't even need to be demonstrated but it's a reason to be constantly angry at the world and filled with rage and fantasizing about murdering innocent people. Who knows what other clear crimes he will not just excuse but advocate for by way of citing his delusions. And this is epidemic across that forum.
