So me and my kids, we decided to do something fun. So we're doing what we call "musical exchanges", basically they recommend me an album to listen to that meant something to them or they just really like, and I do the same.



So I already recommended to my daughter Goodie Mob's greatest hits the first time, and now she wants something which was personal to me, something which helped form my musical tastes.



Well both of these albums were extremely important to me as a teen in the 90s, they literally helped shape and change my musical tastes. I still remember my cousin coming coming over one day tellin me how I HAD to hear these cats ( I lived in the midwest, wasn't exactly playing a lot of the Wu or Nas). 



So my issue is, Resetera, I love both albums lol. And she is a 100 percent K pop kid, so which one should I recommend to her?

My sister is in town with her two boys, 5 and 7, so I hung out with them in the afternoon. Later on we went to their hotel. I had a couple of weeks ago gifted them Starfox on the Switch 2, but they couldn't get it working so I also joined them to help get it working (no idea what they meant, it worked fine when I was there).

The younger one and I were drawing, while the older one was on the bed playing Minecraft. He plays for maybe 40 minutes or so, when I ask if they want me to show how to play Starfox. He mutters that he wants to continue playing Minecraft. My sister tells him to go brush his teeth, let me get Starfox working so the younger one can try it, and that afterwards he can play some more Minecraft.

We get Starfox working, and I show the younger one how to play. Then the older one comes out and starts whining that he wants to play Minecraft. My sister says to let the younger one play Starfox since the older one had played a lot of Minecraft the day before (she keeps track in the Nintendo app and has put in a 3 hour timer).

This goes on for maybe 10 minutes until the older one just fucking snaps like a rabid dog. He throws a complete tantrum, screaming, crying, eventually going up and punching his younger brother. My sister throws off the handle, shouts at him (first time I've ever heard her raise her voice since she tends to go for talking and explaining when they're upset) and tells him that he will now not be able to play any more. The older one starts screaming that it isn't fair, that my sister lied because he thought he would be able to play more as soon as he had brushed his teeth. My sister again tells him that he won't be able to play any more now because he hurt his brother, and that his little brother hadn't played nearly as much as he had in the last couple of days, and that he wanted to learn how to play Starfox with me.

This is when he starts saying that he will destroy the window and jump from the floor they're on, that he don't want to live anymore, that his mother is a liar, and that he wants her to live without him because of her "lies."

I'm starting to leave at this point because I really don't want to be more of a witness.

My thoughts after this:
I knew kids loved Minecraft, but not that it was this addictive.
When I was a child, I hated whenever my mom tried to limit my time playing games, because it felt like A. she had no respect for my passion or willingness to understand it, and B. games were the only thing I truly loved. Now seeing this though, I'm way more understanding and appreciative of how my mom raised me. Then again I never threw a tantrum and never really gave her a big enough reason to stop playing.
I'm generally concerned about my nephew. My sister is a damn good mother overall, but nothing seems to stick with him, where he just seems to go off the handle (this isn't the first time I've seen similar behavior). He's incredibly emotional, and him at fucking 7 years old talking about killing himself to make his mother suffer, makes me really worried that he's going to have major issues growing up.
I really don't want kids.
Watching kids play games, can be excruciating.
Edit. To add: I bought Starfox for them because Starfox 64 was the first game I bought with my own money, when I was too 7 years old. I thought it would be a neat thing to share with them, but then my nephew just goes "nah, I wanna continue playing Minecraft" lol

It's always been two sides yelling at each other. And this is entirely because the one side, guys in particular, have been trying to shout down the sexualization and objectification of women for years. The moment that there's a tiny bit of pushback from women on the subject, we're called prudes or other things depending on the flavor of the topic involved.
