I've had similar thoughts in the AI era that as much as people like to complain about AI art so few people really spend any money on artists directly for there to even be a way for individual artists to have a career making art at this point in time - I am a musician and there's just not really a way to be an independent creative musician at this time unless you also are a social media influencer or a nepo baby and it just fucking sucks because there was a period of time in the 20th century when artists could actually live (meagerly perhaps) off their art creations and nothing else, rather than commercializing what they do in some fashion to be palatable to a generic audience.

I'll be real: in a game that is lacking female characters when there is no excuse for the roster to not be half and half, doing what is essentially a male version of a power set associated with a woman is pretty disappointing.

I know lots of artists who used their artistic talents to earn a good living, me included.

They're employed as graphic designers, commercial photographers, corporate videographers and corporate communications professionals. 

They chose not to starve and found a niche for their art which someone was willing to pay for. I'd love to chuck it all in and start writing novels or something, but I also want to eat. 

No one deserves wealth, you have to earn that. However, most western nations have a safety net which will provide you with enough for a basic living so you can pursue your dreams of drawing furry art commissions.

This is really their whole thing. They know nothing about the industry they claim to be part of so they think there was this paradise, sometime recently as it convinced them to go into art, where you could just do art however you wanted and the bucks rolled in and you were set for life. They can't do that now so they assume the entire world is collapsing when these industries are larger than ever and employing more people than ever.

They absolutely refuse to learn that paradise never existed and you've always had to put in maximum effort to even have a chance at being a self-employed artist.

Well, there are documented cases of them refusing to harm other creatures even when humans are whipping them. Of all the anthropomorphizing we do, imo, elephants seem to actually have their own system. They even mourn their dead and have what appear to be death rituals.

Since yesterday I've been debating whether to bring this up or not. I swear I'm not trying to derail, or kill the mood, or ruin the vibe…but I have to say this:

Sophie Cunningham's recent interview with ESPN includes transphobic comments that are very on brand for her. There are many reasons why I said I wasn't a fan of hers, and while she claims to be "in the middle," her words, actions, and associations off the court are consistently (but not always) hardcore Trump coded. Very disappointing.

Some people here seem confused and are acting like artists working in a corporate environment are these empowered individuals who would not dare stoop to any undesirable demands placed on them by capitalism, and thus the idea of questioning whether some piece of corporate art is AI generated or not is some grave insult towards an honest, sanctified craftsperson.

And besides, with my history as an artist interacting with laymen who in turn have undervalued my work and labor throughout my life ("You charge that much?" "Why do you spend so much time studying?" "I could do that myself" etc.) , I sincerely doubt most people here give a serious shit about the respect artists receive, and the drive by's about Era not "respecting" artists over ambiguity over a movie poster come across as trite and unbelievable.

Full stop, society has never truly respected artists. I need people to not try to pretend otherwise. Or at least go commission one of us, if you actually care that much about what AI is doing to the arts.
