I gladly shared photos of myself because I was looking to boost my self esteem, which was low because I thought I was overweight, which of course I wasn't. No one should make Ariane feel bad for her appearance, but we should be able to find empathy for her, whatever she is experiencing.

The consensus from people I know in treatment is that we all hope she can get help. If she is indeed suffering from an ED, keep in mind that it is a disease and she deserves space and privacy, and that her appearance right now would be a symptom out of her control.

As a fan my heart breaks over this. Treatment is a rough road, but given her love and empathy, I hope if that does indeed need to be her path, that we can all give her time and grace.

Finished the Halo: Campaign Evolved remake of the first game. For better or for worse, it is a faithful remake in Unreal, with all the good and bad that comes with that. Playing it felt like going through some of the worst level design I have ever seen in an FPS game, and it is such a shame that they decided to recreate the horrendous levels of the original game, rather than reimagining them with the 25+ years of level design know-how that subject matter experts have learned since.

I had to play the second-to-last mission on my handheld as there is a 100% crash on PC when using an Nvidia GPU, meaning you will have a hard time completing the game if running the officially-recommended drivers, and I am not going to downgrade drivers for one video game.

What a wasted opportunity to reimagine what Halo could be for modern days, more matured audience, and future generations. Still the same munchkin kids being your primary enemy, still the same teenage-rated narrative, still not being able to take anything story wise seriously when sugar-drugged kids are the threat of the galaxy. Oh well. I guess I wanted more than to play the same game that was developed for consoles in the late 90s and early 00s.

The new prequel levels were the best part of this release. Too bad the cool new character was wasted.

Someone tell me if this thread is weird and should be deleted, but I was wondering if people here had their video game crushes and wanted to talk about them. I have some of my own and am willing to talk about them. Hell, it's due to fictional characters that I even learned and came to terms that I wasn't aromantic (though I still refrain from dating in real life), so there's that. Video games allowing me any sort of exploration of this helped me learn more about myself, I guess (even if I feel like most player-driven video game "romances" are anything but and poorly written. Plus I don't find that there's a whole lot of ace-friendly ones...).

With that being said, I guess I can start? (To note: my "type" seems to be (at least somewhat) benevolent royal women and reptilian ladies (I'm probably a bit of scalie... sue me...)

Calling someone a "primary" would be fucking weird were we not talking fictional characters, but here we are. Originating in Divinity: Original Sin 2 (D:OS2), Sadha's involvement in the game might not seem like she'd be my "primary", yet also thinking about it, she also fits. She's a lizard person and a (possibly somewhat) benevolent royal woman. So she fits the bill. Sadly, she doesn't have a whole lot of character, screentime or consistency in the base game. Sure, she's intriguing and looks nice, but where's the character? The person? So I took it upon myself to flesh out her character and revise her to be more likable (my bias shows) and consistent. I had help, of course, but the end result was a character I love and one who can stand on her own without others needing to define her. Not even my version is "perfect", but that's okay. She's perfect through her imperfections. And I made a mod with someone else to flesh her out so I share that version with others (and just to put her in the game).

My "InSadhaity" doesn't end there, though. I've adapted her to other settings, included TES (I don't care for D:OS2 much anymore, so this helps me still play a game with her in it... I mod her in.). I've commissioned lots excellent art from lots of excellent artists (compilation can be found here: https://www.tumblr.com/sadhaappreciationsociety , among other places). She's my profile picture. In a sense, she's a part of me. Is that healthy? I don't know (certainly more healthy than me pursuing an actual relationship, though). But she's helped me come to terms with myself and has provided lots of ability for expression. I've been liking/loving her for like 7 years and I don't plan on stopping.

I barely care for Mass Effect anymore, but I still like several of the characters. Tali is no exception. She's a cool, smart, tough engineer with a shotgun you do not want to mess with. She's a three-dimensional character that grows as the series grows and learns to be more tolerant and open-minded. The only character I had any interest in romancing in the games and when I did, it was overall pretty wholesome. Mass Effect romances are not well written by any means and I don't care for the sexual themes, but Tali was a sweet and touching love interest. And she's very cool even without romancing her. Garrus might have been my favorite character overall (as far as I know, I'm not into guys trying his romance was an example for that for me: it did nothing for me and I wished for him to stay a bro), but Tali is up there. Probably in second place.

So yeah, that was a lot of rambling. Feel free to share your experiences as well.

The same imperium that has done the lions share of violence, exploitation, destabilization and fascist proliferation across the globe for the past century. Putin and the Islamic Republic of Iran wouldn't even be in power if not for the blowback from US imperial interference and destabilization.

 

This is some "socialism and marxism are hypocritical ideologies because Engels and Marx were bourgeois" nonsense.

But Marxism says only the proletariat can achieve the class consciousness necessary for liberation? So what's the grounds for thinking Marx, Engels, Lenin and Mao (or Hasan or anyone on Era, who are all bougies) knew anything about what was needed for liberation? The hypocrisy comes from if what they say is true, we shouldn't listen to them, yet they contend we should ignore their own theory of reality to listen to them instead. At no point do Marx and Engels try to even explain this because the entire theory is based on Marx's divine revelation abut History and wasting his time trying to "fix" Hegel because some Hegelians offended him by disagreeing with him one time, which is why Lenin had to invent the vanguard which is itself based on more nonsense about divine revelation to the wrong class. (edit: Forgot to add that both Lenin and Mao rejected Marx's science that capitalism had to finish before the revolution in order to justify why they could act in the now.)

When we extend this with modern standpoint theory, which Era abides by when they aren't going mask off, then it's quite clear that Marxism is bourgeois lies and actual proletariat not only can't understand it but instinctively know it's hostile to their existence which is why they don't bother to learn it.
