The thing that I find most infuriating about it, is that transgender people are well aware that their 'biological sex at birth' doesn't line up with their gender. That's the part that makes us *transgender*. By definition.

Seeing places swap out 'trans man' for 'a biological woman at birth who identifies as a transgender man' when both essentially mean the same thing (though 'identifies as a transgender man' is at best clumsy and quite possibly factually wrong), one is *way more concise* and also manages not to misgender the hypothetical trans man... well it's transparent to me that the point of all this isn't science, or accuracy, it's trying to find a way to misgender us and get away with it.

Because they want to get the dig in, but don't want to be called assholes for doing it.

I know what my biology was at birth. It was pretty much impossible to avoid being painfully aware of it.

But DNA isn't the code you are currently running, it's more like the prompt that was used to generate the code. It's like the architectural drawings of a house, or the blueprints of a machine. If you remodel that house, that doesn't change the original architectural drawings... but those drawings don't prevent modifying that house.

My genes were referenced by my body in the womb when it was originally growing. If you could rewrite the genes of an adult woman and give her the SRY gene... it wouldn't do anything to her. It wouldn't stop her ovaries working. It wouldn't make her start growing a beard. It wouldn't affect her bone density. It wouldn't do anything other than make her test positive for the SRY gene.

There isn't a single cell alive in my body right now, that was present when I was born. Not. One. My anatomy has far more relevance to my biology than my genes do. It is that anatomy that dictates my risk of breast cancer. It is my anatomy that dictates whether or not I have an athletic advantage. It is my anatomy that dictates whether or not I can use a urinal. Not whether or not I have a Y chromosome.

All of this has been an attempt to define sex as something that cannot be changed, because it happened at a set moment in the past. But it cannot be tested for or verified to 100% certainty without a time machine. And it isn't something that you can *see* by looking at people. It is a completely impractical standard, used to overcome *practical realities* that make it inconvenient to be transphobic.

If this is about KastuśKalinoŭski, his grievances with Hasan are about Hasan's repeatedly signal boosting Russian propaganda about Ukraine. As an, I believe, Belarusian, his grievances and anger are understandable. There is a lot to unpack about Hasan's stance vs Ukraine, and this topic is not the place to do so, but some understanding should be shown to someone actually feeling all the negatives from this and seeing people cheer Hasan over it. Resetera still has a huge blind spot for everything non-USA and we've had people actively allowing Trump to get elected over the Palestinian genocide, yet when it comes to influencers and Ukraine, it's all fine because *checks thread* he inspired people to call their senator.



edit: before any @'s come in, I'm not interested in this debate and I'm sure he can defend himself if he wants to. All I'm pointing out is that not everyone is an American, and for non-Americans, especially people in Eastern Europe, Hasans discourse comes across very...well, there's a lot of words I could use, but let's just say it hits different. Just to bring some nuance into this and point out that he's not a random troll but an established poster who has a lot of anger for the right reasons and to whom most arguments brought up in that thread understandably sound very hollow.



It's an expression of a trend that we'll see more and more on Resetera as the US rebuilds its society. Instead of discussing bans and warnings, I'd prefer the mods and community think about how to handle the tensions between US posters and non-US posters as they will keep increasing sharply and patience will run out with more and more posters.

Not going to re-litigate his actual stance on Ukraine, but even with that background I can't think of a single situation where posting "So many useful idiots here. I enjoy it." would be allowed. A single poster with an understandable grudge coming in to any other thread and bombing it with ridiculous accusations, insults to other posters, and throwaway incendiary posts trying to get it closed would be threadbanned. Instead they got what they wanted and the thread was closed



Is Hasan Piker a banned topic or not?

Honestly whether he should be a banned topic or not needn't be a discussion at all if some people just accept that he's controversial. He raises awareness on some important topics but he's also problematic in some aspects(main thing for me is the Russia/Ukraine thing and the incident with his dog). So he's not perfect, but there's also no reason he should be outright banned. But when people raise issues about his more problematic sides, maybe some folks need not see it as a call to arms for repetitive debate on whether he's a good person or not. It's just tiring. I've seen some people absolutely refuse to admit that he clearly shocked his dog on stream just because admitting that he's less than perfect seems so unthinkable, as if that would invalidate his better opinions.

The situation would be a group of people dismissing problematic views of an influencer because they like the socialist views of said influencer in a conflict where thousands of people are dying every day.



Even disregarding the exception Resetera seems to make for Hasan and Ukraine versus other influencers and politicians when they have similar takes on anything about the LGBTQ+ community or Palestine, it's pretty easy to see why this would anger someone not living halfway around the world from the war, especially if at the same time the socialist views and actions of Hasan which seem to 'excuse' the problematic views in the eyes of that group of people ring very hollow to that person. Hence...useful idiots.



Now, I don't want to put any words in Kastus' mouth, he can speak up for himself I'm sure, but personally I fully understand where he's coming from. I've often pressed Ctrl+A Del instead of Ctrl+Enter myself.

People can't post things like "he is a net good for the US" and then react with indignation when people outside the US who feel the net bad respond with a middle finger.

I think the admin who closed the thread for "going off the rails" also contributed to the aforementioned derailing, which I hope was not by design.
