I've said this before but the 'biological sex' nonsense hurts me as a trans person *and* as someone with a science degree. Any scientist reading that nonsense should see that this definition hasn't come from science, and is inherently unscientific. I'm fairly confident that biologists were as absent in these hearings as trans people were.

The judges and their ilk claim it's a biological reality when in fact it's a single doctor's best guess given that they're only given two options in the first place. The line doesn't stop being arbitrary simple because the large majority fall clearly on one side or the other of it. That isn't biology. That isn't scientific fact. Science has made some attempts to explore trans identities to better understand them, because like all things science delves into, trans identities are an observed reality. Beyond that, intersex people are indisputably real, and while you can indeed write a binary definition of gender, it serves no useful function other than to push transphobia.

There's a lot of 'scientists' in this thread. I'm going to go with scientific consensus rather than discrediting findings because they don't agree with my predisposed notions, but then I studied science. Until the same evidence is found for this transracial concept, I'm not going to think of it as legitimate or established a concept. The study linked in this thread made for interesting reading.

You can't point to a study like this to suggest they are equivalent, even if you take issue with the conclusions of that study. Even if you think neither are *established* the evidence for one far outweighs the evidence for the other.

You can't disprove evolution without explaining speciation through some other means.

If your stance is 'evolution isn't real because dogs don't turn into cats', you can't disprove evolution with that. Whatever you propose as the new explanation MUST explain everything we witness both in the heralded fossil record and in recent human memory. In recent human memory, we have introduced species to new environments and witnessed speciation occurring. Speciation is real. Species are witnessed as changing over time also. Diversification is real.

That's from like seven years ago, he's trying to debunk some guy questioning evolution in that thread. I included it because it's funny considering his stance now is that sex doesn't exist and the last line where he says one has "explain ALL of this with any new theory." Which you would have to do if your claim is humans have more than two sexes and there's no genetic component at all.

The thing that I find most infuriating about it, is that transgender people are well aware that their 'biological sex at birth' doesn't line up with their gender. That's the part that makes us *transgender*. By definition.

Seeing places swap out 'trans man' for 'a biological woman at birth who identifies as a transgender man' when both essentially mean the same thing (though 'identifies as a transgender man' is at best clumsy and quite possibly factually wrong), one is *way more concise* and also manages not to misgender the hypothetical trans man... well it's transparent to me that the point of all this isn't science, or accuracy, it's trying to find a way to misgender us and get away with it.

Because they want to get the dig in, but don't want to be called assholes for doing it.

I know what my biology was at birth. It was pretty much impossible to avoid being painfully aware of it.

But DNA isn't the code you are currently running, it's more like the prompt that was used to generate the code. It's like the architectural drawings of a house, or the blueprints of a machine. If you remodel that house, that doesn't change the original architectural drawings... but those drawings don't prevent modifying that house.

My genes were referenced by my body in the womb when it was originally growing. If you could rewrite the genes of an adult woman and give her the SRY gene... it wouldn't do anything to her. It wouldn't stop her ovaries working. It wouldn't make her start growing a beard. It wouldn't affect her bone density. It wouldn't do anything other than make her test positive for the SRY gene.

There isn't a single cell alive in my body right now, that was present when I was born. Not. One. My anatomy has far more relevance to my biology than my genes do. It is that anatomy that dictates my risk of breast cancer. It is my anatomy that dictates whether or not I have an athletic advantage. It is my anatomy that dictates whether or not I can use a urinal. Not whether or not I have a Y chromosome.

All of this has been an attempt to define sex as something that cannot be changed, because it happened at a set moment in the past. But it cannot be tested for or verified to 100% certainty without a time machine. And it isn't something that you can *see* by looking at people. It is a completely impractical standard, used to overcome *practical realities* that make it inconvenient to be transphobic.

Like the bathroom thing.... who honestly cares? What is the point of trying to restrict trans people from using their preferred bathroom. If the implication is that cisgender women need to be protected in these spaces, aren't general harassment/assault laws enough? You would punish a dude for barging into the women's restroom and assaulting someone, you would do so as well if a cis woman assaulted another cis woman in the bathroom, you would do so as well if any trans man, woman, or person would barge into any bathroom and assaulted someone regardless of it being the men's, women's, or a gender neutral bathroom. Pointless as hell.

Between multiple politics-related threads that weren't in the correct subforum despite it being weeks old in one of their cases, and the thread posted about a trans couple [ISPOILER]being beaten by a mob and then arrested for using a washroom[/ISPOILER], I'm not sure it's safe for me to poke my head in there anymore without having the horrors intrude.
