someone paying researchers to put "with the help of AI" in everything a million times? I don't ever remember reading articles like "Experimental drug designed with supercomputer processing power shows promise against whatever because of the power of supercomputers and we have supercomputer power now."

In these settings it's not, like, "ChatGPT, make me a molecule inhibitor." It's almost always "we built a custom model trained on a million pancreatic cancer cases and used access to unprecedented compute to brute force in a way we couldn't before." But it's always sold as AI doing some kind of intelligent labor, which feels disingenuous.

If it were a bigger director, like the ones you mention, they would have been big enough to make the sex purge movie have all kinds of sex all over the place, but everyone else has careers to think of and a huge, avoidable flop, is a career ender.

And even with the director citing empirical data, the movie is bombing. So turns out focusing on business to make a crappy movie still didn't work out financially.

They'd atleast have the sense to grasp how royally fucked the premise is. This is worse than WW84's level of "oh you didn't spend a second thinking how gross this was, huh"

Because you don't have to do a study yourself, you can simply look at a previous studies and recode them. And by the power of aggregation your results are even more science. And they're hard to criticize because you'd have to learn about all the studies in the meta-analysis.

Meta-analysis has been heavily criticized as long as its been around, there's some famous examples of corrupt or terrible ones, lots of academics ignore them until reproduction, these papers might be worth pirating but I didn't confirm:
