Quote:I was on a run (with a weighted vest) in the park earlier when I saw a group of Gen Z guys at the park having a small bonfire.

I overheard them talking about Jelly Roll's despicable comments on Jimmy Kimmel.

"I was disgusted by Jelly's divisive comments about the President," one said. "Bruh, I love his music," one of the others replied, tossing what appeared to be a CD into a small fire pit, "but I will NEVER listen to any of it again."

Slowing down, I approached them. "Boys, what's the latest?" I interjected. "I couldn't help but hear you discussing Jelly Roll's performative leftist virtue signaling on Jimmy Kimmel."

"No cap, I never liked him. Beats are weak, and he's chopped af," one of the boys fired back. "We are burning our CDs to show solidarity with DJT."

I looked closer and saw a heap of Jelly Roll CDs, spanning his entire discography, melting together in a fury of patriotism-fueled flames.

"Carry on, boys," I said as a smile grew across my face. I threw another 20 lbs into my vest. "You should give Kid Rock a listen. He's infinitely more talented than Jelly Roll. Trust me."

I dapped them all up and broke into a dead sprint to finish out my run.

The kids are going to be alright.

Suddenly my social media feed is full of Disneyland posts. I’m learning that until three days ago, the north exit of DisneySea was reserved for guests of only three hotels. For context, DisneySea is a long straight line that’s 20 to 30 minutes to walk across. So before, you had to walk back 30 minutes to the entrance to leave, even if you were right next to the north exit. Basically, super autistic Japanese Disney fans have been sharing posts on how to optimize this new development by timing themselves to the second.

Context: we’re in a long holiday break called silver week. Weather has been shitty followed by tsunami yesterday. Today was all clear and I’ve been seeing posts about how unbelievably crowded DisneySea is. I’m learning there’s an inside joke about the Sinbad ride never having a line. It’s so crowded today, even it has a 40 minute wait.

I found it amusing because I went into the Sinbad ride precisely because there was no wait. And it was actually horrible. You’re trapped on a slow boat listening to puppets sing the same song for what feels like an hours.

For more context, the ride next to it showing 140 minutes is Raging Spirits. It was the only long line I stood in for about 25 minutes.

These people are so weird.

I literally never see what Elon or anyone else like that is posting except when people are making fun of them. Bluesky is objectively worse because you almost never see anyone on there pushing back against the authoritarianism, racism, sexism, etc. because everyone on there considers it basic human decency instead of immoral.

Quote:You are surrounded by people who paid to get their content distributed to you, and who profit from the engagement they get from inciting a response. _Any_ response. Which is why they're making up culture war bullshit about every thing that happens in the world, and distorting reality every day, in addition to furthering their authoritarian goals. I know you think you're the exception, and you're immune to it. But you weren't reading hateful slurs in your media diet every day a decade ago, and you weren't seeing them routinely in the replies to every news headline. And now you are. It has an effect, just as it would if you had a neighbor who screamed those words at you ever time you left your front door. Just like you know so many people who say they lost a parent or loved one to a hateful ideology after that person started listening to extremist radio, or watching "news" with a hateful agenda.
First, I want to comment on how so much of his language involves him explaining what he purports to be my own views to me. He just "knows" me and so I should listen to him. I don't get how progressives don't find this irritating.

Second, this is an obvious motte-and-bailey and he even immediately reveals it. The thesis isn't that it distorts my worldview, it's that it distorts my worldview in their favor. So his immediate example of a neighbor screaming this at me every day demonstrates how he's trying to manipulate me. A neighbor doing that wouldn't convince me the neighbor is correct, it would cause resistance in me against my neighbor and what he wants. At no point does he consider this, he assumes the person is a doormat who simply rolls over and accepts whatever they see. So being exposed to a hateful ideology involves me adopting it. Except, I've read literal fascist texts, I've read Marxist texts, religious texts, how much fiction etc. I've never adopted the views of any of those. He believes random morons on Twitter have more power than some of the greatest works of rhetoric, philosophy and literature humans have ever created. He's warning me about a danger that's stupid to worry about and then his TRUMP (lol got em) card is that I shouldn't think I'm an exception and immune. Except I'm constantly immune to all kinds of rhetoric, and not just the political kind where I'm extra activated to spot dishonesty and deceit, I either ignore or are amused at the stupidity of 99% of advertisements and I bet SO IS THIS GUY! He's literally telling me I'm stupider than him and should listen to him because he assumes I'm going to just accept that like I'd just accept whatever some idiots on Twitter say.

Thirdly, who is he writing this for? He didn't post it on Twitter.
So it's just some smug random loser writing to an imaginary person for the benefit of a bunch of other smug losers who all think they're so smart but can never conceive of an imaginary person with agency and critical thought let alone an imaginary person who's better than them in some way or doesn't want to be condescended to by someone purporting to be helping them for their own good.

This is an obvious lie, the Twitter discourse wasn't doubting Nithya Raman had a chance (WHO CAME IN SECOND, NOT WON) they were just hyping Spencer Pratt (WHO JUST MISSED THE RUN-OFF) and tons of Bluesky has given themselves disorders believing nonsense. (Also plenty of people on Bluesky believed and feared that Cuomo would best Mamdani.)

THIS IS LITERALLY HUNDREDS, if not thousands, OF "MAJOR" JOURNALISTS ON BLUESKY (AND TWITTER BEFORE THEY LEFT)

Lastly, Bluesky's alt text feature has a character limit so even though this guy put the entire paragraph in the text and I copied the above from it, it wasn't actually all the text and I had to add the last part of the sentence myself. THIS IS ABLEIST AND GENOCIDE.

It's the Justin Trudeau lecturing like a teacher to a naughty kindergartener tone. That, therapy speak, and scatological insults are three tones of online leftists

It's practically a confession imo. How much of leftist beliefs is repeating the creeds on social media? BLM, ACAB, Trans Women Are Women, Genocide, Cornell 7?

Y'all seem the Kelly Clarkson thing where she tried to buy some art piece with a $15,000 price tag and the Brooklyn shop refused? Even stuff I saw on Reddit is "dick move from the shop, you put a pricetag on it dummies" while Blue sky wants to guillotine the White Karen.

I'm more addicted to X than JeffMarvel and my views on some controversial issues (trans, immigration, Islam, crime) are or shifted to the Far Right According to Bluesky. I do think about if I've just overreact to ragebait but those people don't even for their own Factually Correct views.

He cant even keep a consistent position. The guy rejects the notion that "his side" media was (or is) doing this to him. (Or thinks that he's an exception and immune.) He claims NOW it's different because Twitter is covered in slurs and Elon is a weird drug addict who may be making himself (more) insane. Bluesky considers nearly all media to be right-wing or worse, centrist, yet this guy is trying to make the case that it's perfectly fine and not distorted, hype about irrelevant culture war shit or propaganda. The New York Times is a criminal operation according to Bluesky and he just passes over this even as he condemns Twitter for having people who hold the same position from a different direction. And this is part of his argument as to why I should listen to him, because he's apparently not as skeptical and critical as I am. He can't handle it so he knows I can't so I should just let him direct me as to what's in my best interest.

Standard self-declared progressive.
