Journal of Other Forum Analysis (Volume II, Issue 2)
The "non-bigots" disclaimer is the most important to his argument, it automatically rules out anyone who doesn't believe trans women are women and female. (Or rather, that women are not inherently female.) That's the way to exclude the fairness concern that women only compete with women. Males participating is inherently unfair and so are excluded as a class. But this is bigotry and so not a good faith concern.

"Fun, exercise and competition" are all irrelevant, this is trying to impose some "higher" reasons on why women are or aren't allowed to have spaces and places only for women. But he's already categorically ruled this out so it's extra irrelevant.

All the complication is coming from people attempting to circumvent a simple rule by being dishonest. You can see it clearly when you frame the question as "can women exclude men?" He'd say "yes, but these are women, so they cannot exclude them on those grounds." He's already snuck in the additional premise without debate in a way that answers the question with "no" while saying "yes."

There's no possible compromise because the actual question is "can males be women?" And the answers on this are incompatible with each other. Which is why he has bypass this question by declaring any answer but "yes" to be bigotry.

Yes, the IDF stand in in the game isn't presented in the best light in the modern day - but it's also worth noting that The WLF's struggle early on is presented as fairly unambiguously righteous. Their origin story is a clear cut retelling of the zionist militias driving the British (FEDRA) out of the city that were subjugating its citizens, and then turning around and ghettoizing a rival religious faction once FEDRA was finally out of the way.
Thanks for the screenshot. Lil Zio Neil don't even have a single tweet with the word genocide or Gaza in it when I tried searching earlier lol. What a coward.

Because I'm thinking yeah, working in marketing is what ails me too.
I'm doing their communications. It's less of a clique/high school social posturing than corporate life. But fulfilling our metrics can replace doing the best work for some people though I think we're all traumatized in various ways by what's happening broadly now cause we're a federal grant.

Marketing pays extremely well (or extremely poorly if you're new/lower tier) for the most fake of all jobs I've encountered. Website banner ads will never get clicked and are on shady sites but your boss and other people will act like it's the most serious thing in the world and curing cancer.

The fake-ness of this was tolerable until Covid and all that's happened since. It made me acutely aware that my one precious life was slipping away daily even as I made six figures for really nothing.

But yeah, I do find my job a lot more fulfilling. They don't really need a communications person so I've picked up some other stuff like running some trainings and I had a really successful one Thursday that jazzed me up from a huge life funk.

I did marketing both agency then quit and got hired by my main client so in-house then. Both sucked but both companies had awful cultures that got worse and worse. A good one might be tolerable.

One of the things that caught my eye was simply the date in that Redditor's username. 1970.

I just checked literally writing this post and Sam Houser, for instance, was born November 1971. So a person born 1970 and is over there physically located near their headquarters who's "a friend of a friend" does seem awfully, awfully suspicious. Especially in conjunction with everything else I've been trying to point out in regards to the conspicuousness of it all this whole time. Not saying it has to be a direct association to head honcho big wig, but that un date use would be the kind of age I'd associate top dogs to be around their business.

I am very suspicious of this being a clandestine thing planned in the most secretive halls at the highest levels of their biz. That maybe only a select few high level people know.

Had some other ideas too, but I've kept them to myself. We are sure to find out either way.

The thing is, if it really is guerrilla marketing kayfabe, what happens with the cryptocurrency? That's the big thing that begs the question/really complicates it. The crypto profit motive/rug pull potential. Because yes, I don't know how you square it against that idea as various people and I have discussed in here.

But everything else around it has been super super suspicious to me. Same with Strauss Zelnick's implication of them doing some creative marketing for this, yes.

Surely Thursday will be the real answer?

E: My thinking mostly is rogue employee that's just very savvy is directly involved somehow seeking far greater personal enrichment + may also have an external contact(s), as the signature is what most kind of implies it/an external build seems too hard to believe. But the guerrilla marketing kayfabe conspiracy still hasn't exited my brain even after everything that absolutely does pour cold water on it lmao. You really cannot dispute the crypto, the subpoenas, and Jason's direct reporting of developers rightfully being pissed the fuck off.

Same with the idea of an external "hacker" penetrating in who somehow nabbed this specific clipped playsession sitting somewhere pre-recorded + created this goofy ass yet obviously considered persona against the same word they just happened to see, which just coincidentally is a pun for the whole thing. That they just should have been way too guarded against this very bullshit for that to believably happen to me either.

What's actually more problematic? A solo indie developer with no income using AI because they can't afford an artist, or a billion dollar corporation using it to reduce labour costs? Because right now it feels like we're applying the harshest standard to the people with the fewest resources, while making exceptions for the companies with the most.

Do I leave, start doing ??? and reset my entire sense of self? Fuuuuuuck knows. I want to go back 5 years. Actually that was COVID. I want to go back 10 years.

Kyuuji, post: 159419521, member: 31943 wrote:That's it, because fundamentally GenAI coding still works on the theft of people's work (and yes, it can be creative in nature) and is bad for the planet. So you do need to find a line between the extremes on a practical basis when it comes to how to handle the discussion of games on the forum. I don't think the 'unwavering ethics' line comes into it too much honestly. Broader actions have always been more in service of the community than some attempt at making an external impact. Unless you mean on a user basis, but even then people have varying lines. Some people absolutely aren't playing anything with known signs of AI, and I don't blame them for taking "everything is AI" style posts as anything other than being said to them in bad faith. Others dislike AI but it doesn't stop them from playing a game with it (in the same way other issues don't prevent many other people from engaging with those products). There's never going to be a clean cut consensus across a userbase of this size when speaking to individual action.

As for you and dev in general, I feel you. I code in my job and the mandating of AI and its introduction has come from both company and client alike. We're well into the realm of resisting that being of detriment to your job/career, and not only adoption but staying ahead of it is key if you want to advance. I'm fortunate to be senior enough for this particular example to not hit me, but we're already seeing juniors being denied funds for training courses because 'why spend thousands of pounds on this only to be worse at it than a Cursor subscription is today'. Equally it's causing problems. Juniors use AI to produce code that, when it breaks, they don't understand – so it gets passed to a senior to untangle and fix. That doesn't touch anyone at an executive level though, so the march continues. Most people have more to their consideration around work/employment than just making a stand against AI – particularly in one of the initial spaces where it's an existential threat to said job.

PC Gamer have been following the project more closely over the past couple of years than I expected from mainstream games journalists. It's not unlikely that when we get the Lucia story leak we may see other leaks in a similar vein to those we've had up to now (like boat or underwater gameplay).

B-Dubs, post: 159547078, member: 143 wrote:I'm gonna be real, asking people to tag spoilers in a literal spoiler thread is totally absurd. If you don't want to be spoiled, then don't go into the spoiler thread.

Kyuuji, post: 159547309, member: 31943 wrote:Story spoilers mixed in it is then. No real skin off my back, it's just clear from the discussion… everywhere… there's a large difference in the way current general gameplay spoilers are being taken vs. the story spoilers that are due to drop in a day and a half.

shadowman16, post: 159547330, member: 2774 wrote:Only on this site could users go into a leaks thread and complain about spoilers. Its the very nature of what leaks are... Like, I thought the whole spoiler title thing several pages back was already flimsy but this is just really darn silly lol.

Problem is, what is a gameplay spoiler and what's a story spoiler? Certain vehicles or certain mission types could lean into either, and some might not even realise that one is the other. What if there's a line of dialogue during the gameplay clip which eludes or states something that's happening in the story?

What about the map that supposedly leaked? That's probably story ajacent since you can see the whole map, maybe certain areas in a bit more detail - knowing there's certain areas in the game could absolutely be something you can join the dots to... Its a slippery slope and knowing this site, people will absolutely complain no matter what.

If its a flat out ending cutscene, sure people might wanna give users a heads up, but I just think anyone whose in the leaks thread should be prepared to see... leaks - any sort of leak.

Kyuuji, post: 159547429, member: 31943 wrote:Like I say above it makes little difference to me, I'm responding to the discussion that's been happening in the thread. If you've been following the discussion in various places around the GTA VI leaks then the upcoming Lucia spoilers (titled Lucia [ispoiler]prologue[/ispoiler]) are absolutely being taken as a step further, and as 'story spoilers' relative to what's being shown. People have genuinely been asking for a separate thread for them lol. The phrase "if they start dropping story spoilers" has probably been used thousands of times atp.

grand, post: 159547540, member: 1554 wrote:Best scenario is to run it like the long running Pokemon leaks thread (which sounds like is what's happening): post everything, but in the lead up to release, courtesy spoiler tag things you regard as story spoilers. But if you end up getting spoiled because you & someone else have a difference in opinion of what is story spoilers, you just gotta grin & bear it as that's the risk of being in a leak thread.

Then when the game actually comes out, a normal spoiler thread can be made. But it's an impossible task to spoiler guard leaks before release.

It's an actual spoiler thread, if you don't want to be spoiled then don't go into it.

Lucia, post: 159547753, member: 104397 wrote:At most you could ask OP to specificaly label each leak with "story spoiler" and "gameplay clip" threadmarks.

Kyuuji, post: 159547885, member: 31943 wrote:That's a decent approach imo. I'm watching them either way since it's clear the game is set to be massive beyond the drips we've seen. But there's been a discussion around it (and 'story' spoilers) pretty much the entire length of the past week, so seems a headache might be coming which is all I think RedbullCola was trying to pre-empt. Dropped a note in the thread all the same so people have warning. Thankfully there's a literal countdown to the leak lol.

Edit: Dubs posted in the thread so all's made fully clear at least!

Kyuuji, post: 159549667, member: 31943 wrote:It's cool, people know and will dip if they don't want the Lucia story spoilers. What with someone dropping $6,000 to make it happen it's pretty clear it'll drop so there's a solid amount of forewarning in general. Think mostly people are just curious if we'll see the Beach clip between now and then (I expect we will).

Oh, so it's only if you're in junior phase that you can't use blatantly anti-Semitic rhetoric. If you're a senior member, you don't get banned?

Knowing that there is an entire population of gamers that will be getting to experience this game for the first time makes my heart soar. Tears are flowing.

Every one who appears to dream of living in a Communist Utopia always sees themselves as having a comfy job in the politburo.  In reality someone with the personality of Neppy is the type to hear a knock on her door at 3.00 am to be told "Good news comrade a bus is here to take you to work in a coal mine in West Virginia."

exodus, post: 159414229, member: 2529 wrote:I understand why the exception exists from a practical standpoint, but I don't know why that makes it a good policy. If anything I'd expect us to hold major publishers to a higher standard.

What's actually more problematic? A solo indie developer with no income using AI because they can't afford an artist, or a billion dollar corporation using it to reduce labour costs? Because right now it feels like we're applying the harshest standard to the people with the fewest resources, while making exceptions for the companies with the most.

Kyuuji, post: 159415156, member: 31943 wrote:Because it’s also an issue of moderation. The staff have to find a line between either extreme and the one they’ve found seems to be working pretty well short of people coming in here and being like “shouldn’t all Capcom games be in the same thread then hmm?” which is a take that’s hard to see as being made in good faith. It should be obvious why we aren’t chucking Battlefield 6, Marvel Rivals, Claire Obscur, and so on into a single thread for their discussion.

Especially if you count coding, chatbot usage etc alongside asset generation, and especially especially if you don't require hard proof per thing and are OK with judging via broad published company policy ("we at <corporation> are excited to use Claude to accelerate blah blah blah"). Everything would be in one thread, except all the threads which were working out what should go in the one thread.

I am currently working out what to do with a 20+ year career in software development falling down around me, as my entire industry has been infested with a philosophy / tool / addictive substance that I despise. Do I leave, start doing ??? and reset my entire sense of self? Do I "know thy enemy" and attempt to navigate the technology as a technology, especially at the level of seniority my position requires me to operate at, but risk losing what I believe in or getting sucked in to lazy / damaging behaviour?

Winds me up so much how he just inserts himself as the voice of the forum, dude just wants to be moderation so bad
