After 2 years of marriage, we decided to open up our relationship to looking for fwb/poly sex/relationship with a third party. We downloaded the latest apps and started meeting people. We hooked up and had a threesome last night and it was awesome. It's absolutely thrilling to discover and explore sex and attraction and flirting with new people together. Our individual therapists equipped us with psychological literature and books on starting poly relationships and sex and we are looking forward to discovering this new phase of our marriage. They explained to us that polyamorous relationships and sex can be beneficial to certain couples if it is handled carefully because it can relieve the pressure that builds for a two-person relationship to exclusively meet each other's needs, when in fact we were biologically evolved to be social, sexual creatures.

We do couples therapy 2-4x a month now for years…but my husband recently had a bunch of trauma bubble up for him from when I used to be a lot worse of a partner back in 2017-2019 (I had to take care of my childhood abuser/dementia-riddled dad after he got out of prison and then watch him slowly die of Parkinson's that year, I had CPTSD, MDD, panic disorder, etc I was unmedicated, no therapy yet, and I was about to move away from my home state to start grad school). Those years I was suicidal, depressed, and had many attempts to hurt myself. Those days are long gone but the last few months they bubbled to the surface for him and he decided he can't forgive me, he's paralyzed with trauma, and he can't move on, he can't feel safe/close to me anymore, and now he wants a divorce after realizing he will never forgive me. After the last year of insults and emotional abuse from him about how I'm not a good enough partner and how my addiction, my adhd, my flaws, everything about me is a huge turn off and problem for him.

I will preface this by saying i'm not defending this abhorrent person nor the horrifically terrible acts he committed. He was a monster, regardless of mental health issues. murdering people is ALWAYS a monstrous act regardless of someones mental state.

I will say though, and this is not me trying to tone police around a sensitive subject, but as someone who is severely mentally ill and has been suicidal many many times, whenever someone calls suicide a "cowardly" act it really triggers me in a bad way. this person was not a coward because he took his own life to escape something, he was a coward for not owning up to the monstrous and heinous acts he committed because, despite what may be wrong in our heads, it's never okay to harm someone let alone kill them. we have a responsibility to not commit terrible crimes, even when our own brain becomes our worst enemy.
