he's way out of touch with what people want these days, a businessman would be chasing trends in ways that he refuses to, and then he suffers for the opposite reasons, not even trying The ruthless chain-smoking businessman was Yamauchi. Miyamoto has never really been in management above the producer level except when Iwata died and he was temporary joint-President. He wasn't even really the guy who "ran" EAD, instead he had this sort of creative director of everything position.
His position at Nintendo now, and for the last decade, is more like this guy who exists outside the org chart and is allowed to advise on everything.
It's always been funny how people treat Miyamoto as if he's literally doing everything at Nintendo when there was a guy at Ubisoft who did basically the same thing for like 20 years and decided almost every game they'd make too but nobody even knows his name and I'd have to look it up even though I know he existed. I can believe he so out of touch that he thinks that Remakes are some sort of novel concept.
But I also think he cares about the corpo side of Nintendo to not try to corpo speak in his own whimsical way. I doubt he doesn’t understand why people are not thrilled by endless remakes, regardless of their quality, or the economics of selling you a remake or retro game service over outright selling you old games like they used to do with the Wii and WiiU.
Then again, given PlayStation and Xbox current woes, maybe being out of touch with modern trends is for the better.

it's not like you even had to engage with it at all, it was a whole separate room you had to go read the storybook in
Miyamoto has been replaced with Koizumi who wears a more expensive suit every Nintendo Direct and turned Nintendo's entire software planning strategy into Super Mario Galaxy.
There is a new attraction every week, every month every year. Be it a Super Mario Galaxy story book, a camera shaped like a Piranha plant or a 2D Metroid.
I think Miyamoto dropped off right around the time the GameCube launched. His last big push was mostly a bunch of cancelled N64 projects. Unlike Koizumi he did not bet on eco systems but rather this 1 big project which he again did with Pikmin on the GameCube by personally directing it. Leaving Aonuma and Koizumi in charge of Zelda and 3D Mario. As well as cancelling every game at Retro Studios except Metroid Prime. Iwata turned to other creators like Masahiro Sakurai for Smash Bros. and Tetsuya Takahashi for Xenoblade. He got removed from the producer role he had for The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Super Mario Sunshine rather quickly. Tezuka became te producer for Mario and Aonuma for Zelda after Twilight Princess, leaving the directors seat to Fujibayashi.

He isn't funny, he isn't a good priest, he isn't a good ally, he isn't a good attack dog, he's just lil poptart.

like mario sticker star where he mandated that the devs couldn't make any fun new characters or worlds, nothing but regular ass toads who couldn't even have interesting appearances or accessories
or like star fox whatever the fuck where you did motion controls/touch aiming controls with the pad and the controls were generally all fucked up because he wanted to emulate the idea of a battle station instead of the intuitive controls we're all used to, and everyone hated it and it sold like shit

only 1 step away from calling him the n-word
I think DS2 is the best game Kojima ever made but also believe it’s completely understandable why any company would cut him loose.
I think there’s a decent chance Xbox ends the relationship prematurely too.
Think I might transition and punch clicky in the goddamned face #fightdacisdom
