It's one of the reasons Republicans even now are saying funding for Israel should be separated from Ukraine and not linked as a larger unified package: they want to end Ukrainian funding entirely and are likely to shut down the fucking government over it. Any funding Ukraine gets this year will be because it's tied to funding for Israel, otherwise they're done for by Russia.

The rot is very much as much domestic failings as it is international ones. He couldn't do the "right thing" even if he wanted to, and it's fair to entertain if he even wants to do that at all. Of course, the rot didn't start this week or two weeks ago, it's been decades of this direction leading us here.

Long-term American foreign policy going back decades has fueled and created the Apartheid state which is Israel, but Russia and Iran together are behind propping up and instigating Hamas's recent terrorist actions that sparked Israel's current massive overreaction. In the middle are the vast majority of Palestinians who want nothing to do with Hamas or Israel's actions and whose lives are being devastated day in and day out due to this geopolitical shit show nightmare that the world is currently in.

The acute danger here are the wannabe strongmen, namely Putin, Netanyahu, Trump, Xi, et al. who've been pushing and instigating this trajectory for a long time now.

Putin is most definitely the main fire-starter here. That little fucker needs to be vaporized like yesterday, and Trump needs to be in jail stat or the world's overarching geopolitical conflicts are just going to continue to escalate.

I feel like being a white-colonial state--or at the very least making sure your white population is firmly at the top of the economic/power structure--is a prerequesite for being considered a "western civilization/democracy" because I mean as an example, Ghana is further "west" than most of Europe, and models itself on western civilization but is never considered a "western civilization/democracy" they get designated as African or simple isn't mentioned at all in the same breath as other western democracies.

We don't have reliable facts yet. And when something horrible happens, we don't know if it was intentional or not. No amount of random people on the internet or bots changes my opinion until there is peer reviewed corroborated info. And we may not have a good picture for months and an accurate one for years. What makes things extra suspect from Gaza is coms are still spotty and the official governing body is...Hamas. Even today they're going on about a story about 42 relativesof a family being killed in 1 day. How did they get that information with everything going on? Seems likely bullshit. If it is bullshit it won't matter to them because they won't acknowledge it, handwave about other similar events (from randos), and have moved onto the next "truth". Israel has every right to eradicate Hamas after what happened. Imagine if Mexico or Canada launched a barrage of attacks and hunted down people like some murder fetish porn. I think Thor: Love and Thunder is my guilty pleasure of the MCU. It's so simple and lean that it just works for me every time I watch it despite some of the more subtle humor not quite landing. It also feels cheap but it's part of the charm with this one. It's a fun short watch for me.

I like Jane's cancer arc, Gorr's motivation, the parallel between Jane and Gorr, the Thor-Mjølnir-Stormbreaker love triangle, everything in Omnipotence City, the kids fighting, the whole deal with Eternity and Stormbreaker being the key to it, intro with the Guardians, the screaming goats, the colorless Shadow Realm. So many things comes together that I can't but appreciate it.

The thing is, I don't know if I like Love and Thunder or The Dark World more, cause I really like the latter.

I hope The Marvels will give me something similar. A fun and short romp but with some bits of drama in there.

I think Thor: Love and Thunder is my guilty pleasure of the MCU. It's so simple and lean that it just works for me every time I watch it despite some of the more subtle humor not quite landing. It also feels cheap but it's part of the charm with this one. It's a fun short watch for me.

Supporting a genocide, both materially and through rhetoric, is not a "nuanced" position. It's an awful one.

I get the criticism but I think classifying what's going on as genocide is a bit much. I mean, Israel is not trying to wipe all Palestinians off the map.
