Well, I let them go.

Called them into my office around lunch, explained the situation, and said we had to end their employment effective immediately. I was expecting to be hit hard either with tears/crying or pure anger, but instead it was just a super casual - "Oh...ok". I was sitting there thinking like, wow, that's it? And then they asked me "so do you still want me to come in tomorrow". I was like uhhh, no, we're ending your employment effective immediately. I then had him speak to our HR person to go over final pay and benefits stuff, termination papers, etc.

And before they left my office they asked if they could take some of the mints in the bowl at the front desk before they left, and I said sure (we have a big bowl of mints at the check-in/check-out counter for patients). When I went up to the front at the end of the day the bowl was completely empty. I asked someone up there what happened to all the mints (we top it off like every other morning) and they said the new front desk employee took the bowl and dumped all the mints into his bag before he walked out.

The best thing about this is the clown finally managed to work up the courage to fire the employee and he's pissed he didn't get the tearful reaction he was hoping for.

my fiancee and i have been together for a decade now. last week she cheated on me with a mutual friend (obviously now ex-friend) who is just so much more attractive than i am after she initially told me she didn't reciprocate. she left the house to get some space and work on herself and i have been left reeling. i didn't go to work for two days straight, i only eat enough to not waste away, all i have done is sleep and watch long youtube videos but i can barely sleep well because i'm surrounded by us and i keep having dreams about us. i have not heard from her since outside of knowing she's safe and seeing her check in for her weekly D&D. this has fucking shattered me, seriously.

i can't imagine the rest of my life, genuinely. i called 988 on friday because i got dangerously close to jumping off the pier. i have barely been able to tell people because i don't want to ruin her reputation because i love her so much. my therapist stopped our session to cry with me. i am at work right now and having a panic attack just thinking about it. i am just trapped, catatonic, and i am coming to a video game forum for words of advice and hope, because every time i talk or think about it i feel a dread well up in my throat.
