a long time ago ark was bought by a terrible chinese company whose only goal is to squeeze every bit of revenue from it, and every decision made regarding the franchise for years has been shit and controversial

notably the original game wasn't even fuckin done at the time they announced a paid expansion, the performance was still in the toilet and glitches were everywhere and they were already selling more content

and they announced an ark movie with vin diesel, and then he was gonna be in ark 2, and nothing has progressed or actually manifested

ark 2 is endlessly delayed, right now still delayed into 2024, and it's thought that the chinese company took all the money that had been earmarked for ark 2 and spent it on other projects/shady shit

in the meantime they randomly announced a remaster of ark 1, first saying that everyone who owned ark 1 would get it free, then saying they wouldn't, and then actually increasing the price...everyone assumes the idea is to actually earn money again to be able to spend it to make ark 2

ark 1 remaster came out on oct 26th but had zero lead up or proper marketing, most people didn't even think it existed until it was actually in their hands, its first screenshot ever was randomly tweeted on the 23rd, and the steam store page went up on the 25th with no price or info, only wishlist, yet the trailer on the same day said "available today," it was a massive clusterfuck

reviews are "mixed" and performance is horrible which is par for the course for this company

He's not wrong, the game will not have the legs of Breath of the Wild. 

While Nintendo sold it to the active Switch userbase it shows that not everyone who played BOTW dusted off their Switch for the sequel.
I guess it'll go up to 25 million vs. 30 million for BOTW, and then the Switch 2 remasters will push both to new heights eventually.

Nintendo probably won't repack it like they did with BOTW either, that kept the momentum going. They sold about 4 different versions of the game in total over the years.

If you bought a Switch you bought BOTW, crazy attachment ratio in the early days of the Switch. Nintendo also kept using it in their ads.

TOTK doesn't have that going for it. There's plenty of competition (even from BOTW still) and Nintendo will likely pivot to Switch 2 advertising showing off whatever big titles they have for launch. Right now ads wise Nintendo has already moved on to Mario RPG and Mario Wonder. They're pushing Zelda not as much as they are Mario right now. 

I only see it happen if its a big part of the Switch 2 strategy on day 1.

What's weird is on the gaming side everyone shuts down talk like that and says "It's disrespectful to the developers" to just shit on games they don't like. But for SOME reason, we don't extend that same train of thought to movies and TV.
