I don't think people really realize how much content is actually produced yearly for comics and how many people consume them reading them collected not as they come out. The medium is completely different from film in so many ways.

The vague Thanos thing is about the best you can really do with "connected" films. The only other way you can do these things is to strip the comics down to their essence and remake them as films first like like Snyder did and like Matt Reeves supposedly has done. And that puts an upper bound on how many you can do because of how long films take and everything else about them, Snyder couldn't even get to the four parts he originally was signed for while Reeves stuck to the safe film trilogy. The MCU up to Endgame is really a series of small arcs connected by a set of MacGuffins and the looming Thanos who does nothing at all in any of the actual films until Infinity War.

Stuff like Harry Poopter and the Hunger Games is somewhat different because they're adapting a finished story already. Star Wars is different because there were decade gaps between the trilogies.

Another thing against the MCU that the comics don't suffer is that they keep all their heroes for good unless it's part of the storyline. They don't replace the Avengers in every other issue with a new cast. The MCU could do what it did the first time because despite what the cult tells you people know Captain America, Iron Man, etc. The MCU can't do that again until it rolls out the Fantastic Four and X-Men so it naturally won't be as big until it does. The new DCU is clearly trying to balance this by mixing more hardcore comic stuff with the names everybody knows. I wouldn't be surprised if the films rarely are ever headlined by the non-names (true ensembles, not team-ups of C-listers, like Guardians is different and The Authority fits this), that will probably be left to the streaming series full of characters who showed up in the Superman or Batman or Wonder Woman movies or whatever.

And that's only the AAAA+ stuff, not even the great remasters like Metroid Prime Remastered, the good but not great games like Starfield or the free new version of Half Life we got just yesterday.

Also we got Tom Cruise, Fincher, Scorsese and Nolan films this year and the first Super Mario Bros. movie that is an absolute banger too.
