Honestly, posting pics with appropriate tags from a game that people on here have actually have played is fine. (As long as it isn't a banned game or so bad that it would be banned from discussion.)

As a thread/community we need to do better than, "Hey, check out this disgusting/questionable/offensive design I found from a game I will never play." This shouldn't be a NSFW Show and No Tell thread. Otherwise we get what we got last page, eldritch abomination that that ten billion people quoted in order to react to.

But yeah, the forum as a whole is super inconsistent with NSFW stuff. Personally, I'm fine with NSFW (within reason) shit in this thread if it is for the purposes of generating a discussion. There needs to be merit. Beyond shock and awe points of course. This thread is inherently NSFW and it always will be and I can live with that, but that doesn't mean it needs to be Super NSFW or look like a sketchy image board.

Also the rule isn't don't ever quote a post with an image, just if there's any doubt then just remove it. If people want context, they have a link to the post in question. Though honestly the problem would be mitigated if everyone was better about NSFW tags in the first place but I digress.

Skimmed that plagiarism video. While I appreciate the homage to the snyder cut in its runtime, I didn’t recognize any of the people except the angry nintendo nerd. From what I could surmise, it was less him and more hiring on other writers that stole movie reviews? Most of the video is about some gay grifter with Roger’s haircut from Hey Arnold stealing from lesser known gay writers. Apparently it’s a big deal if you’re into video essays about how like CW shows and cartoons are secretly gay.

The end is him suggesting other gay YouTube essayists by placing a bunch of thumbnails on a grid. Unintentionally, they all look to have the exact same aesthetic. Maybe YouTube just sucks when you step away from geriatrics talking about obsolete technology. Or Japanese train reviewers. Or MRE reviews. The further they get away from the public access tv ideal, the worse they get.

I watched a "please help, my content isn't getting the views I need to sustain the channel" vid from him months back and felt genuinely bad that someone who seemed to be doing good, well researched videos about LGBTQ subjects was being ignored.

I watched some of James Somerton's videos in passing (he was recommended to me by a friend of mine), and he gave me an impression of someone if not intelligent then at least someone who knew what he was talking about and relied on his queer experience while making his videos and interpreting the works in question so this is pretty egregious.

The last half of this video made me pretty fucking sad, I know that 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️ communities online are very defensive, we have bad faith arguments and awful takes constantly thrown at us to either discredit or make us always feel less than others and its (obviously) been getting progressively worse over the last decade. I understand when James' community assumed the worst and reacted as expected (ie throwing abuse at people giving any sort of criticism (valid or not) and harassing them off platforms) because they're not just attacking him they're attacking the 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️community he is representing.

It is extremely shitty for me that this shielding of James from his patrons/supporters has basically enabled him to continue to plagiarise other lgbtqi peoples work for years and effectively been fucking over the community they were trying to support. I can't imagine being the person who supported him on Patreon and had their work stolen by him, I'd be absolutely fucking livid. It also seems like this would have continued on or at best been met with significantly more skepticism if someone from the lgbtq community hadn't stepped in and made this exact video (which is excellent).

I have an hour to go and I have immense hatred for the Somerton guy and his blatant misogyny as the only thing he adds when he isn't stealing from other queer people.. But at least this looks like the end of his little spotlight.

I'm not sure how Somerton wasn't caught sooner you listen to this guy talk and he clearly isn't coming across as well read, or sometimes even interested in what he's talking about.

Like, it would be nice if there was reciepts instead of 'This guy is a piece of shit' and giving a vague reason why as if we are supposed to be in on the commentary. The thing is he COULD be a piece of shit (I am barely familiar with his work) but all I got out of this post is no information and all angry rumor (which could be factual!
