Having played Coral Island for waaaaay too long before realizing what comes next, I will post a huge warning that the game is not finished at all despite being labeled as "1.0" and exiting early access.

One of the main quests literally stops in the middle with the next step being "WIP" (and I mean literally literally). The romance/relationship part of the game is severely underbaked and terribly written. Half of the cast relationships are also not even implemented.

Don't even bother on consoles where the performance and game breaking bugs for core activities are atrocious. The Xbox build was unplayable at launch and slowly getting patched up.

Now for the upside: the concept and world is really cool, it is Stardew Valley with absolutely fantastic art, a very relaxing world, the cast diversity and body positivity is commendable (even if everyone is hot of course, but for instance you get a woman with stretch marks and it's the first time I remember seeing this in a game), I've enjoyed the core mechanics a lot before they wiped everyone's progress with 1.0 (for actually no reason in the end since nothing was finished) but it absolutely needs a few months in the oven before qualifying as anywhere but finished and they know it.

Treat it as very much early access with the understanding that most aspects (romance, museum, main story, large areas of the maps) at the moment don't have any sort of satisfying conclusion - yet. And no idea of when things will be completed or not or removed or not. And there is still a bunch of major quality of life updates that need to happen to make the mid-game flow as nicely as other "farm" sim.

Game should be really great in a few months though, at least according to their revised roadmap.

So is half finished game that only has going for it tumblr hot people and early gameplay.

It's because they sincerely want the system to fail so that they can replace it. They think capitalism is a blight, and this is an instance of capitalism working as intended: profit motivating contributions to society and helping people. That's why whenever they see some rich person donate, they're not happy; they're mad and say, "It's pathetic we have to rely on some rich dude's philanthropy instead of just The System™ taking care of this problem." They see it as a band-aid solution that makes the True Solution (authoritarian systems) harder to sell to people. They honestly want the problems to get worse, for things to get so bad that people are forced to finally give them power to implement the True Solution.

Disclaimer: I just realized I coined a term that's very close to Final Solution. I'm not implying anyone (except Nep) believes in that. I just mean authoritarian systems meant to force equal outcomes.
