Welp. The worst happened. I took it downstairs and removed and re-seated the RAM stick that wasn't responding. Its LED was always glowing a solid red, whereas the other one was still glowing in time with the rest of the components, so it was clearly the issue. Took it out, put it back in...

And now the system won't power on at all. Well, it powers on, but it just sits there in an idle state forever. The BIOS never pops up, the USB peripherals I have plugged in won't respond, it's just...an idle brick.

I don't even know what happened. I don't understand any of this.

Read the fucking manual you fucking clown. Jesus christ, this reminds me why PC gaming isn't taking off the way it should be. Fucking retards like PlanetSmasher who don't understand the simple concept of reading or trial and error and can only operate things with a big green smiley button that says: "PUT YOUR FINGER IN THE CENTER OF THIS PIECE OF PLASTIC AND APPLY PRESSURE" and are immediately praised with clapping and cheers because they managed to find the single fucking button they need to press to turn the fucking thing on.

Why put it back in if you think it's the problem? Take the fucker out and turn it on. If it functions properly, you've isolated the problem and can get that component replaced.

Motherboards have specific memory slots allocated for something we call DUAL CHANNEL memory.
So either use all slots(for 4 sticks), slot 1 or 3(for one stick) or slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4(depends on the model).

My best guess is that this genius put the memory in slot 1 and 2. Which causes the PC to throw a memory error. Which is usually indicated by a beeping sound or a blinking led.

I installed Fan Control and I don't really know what I'm doing. It looks like the GPU fan is only engaging when it needs to (which seems correct), while the CPU fan is running around 3000RPM with occasional fluctuations up or down 200RPM, the Pump Fan (I don't know what this is either) is settled around 1150-1300RPM with minor fluctuations, and then there's "System Fan 3" that is constantly running at 2070ish RPM but Fan Control seems to be incapable of syncing with it.

What am I supposed to do from here?

The noise isn't changing at all no matter what I do. I hate this. And now the CPU fan is literally fluctuating between 0 RPM and any random number, and the GPU fan just appears to be permanently off ever since I installed Fan Control. Even booting up Vampire Survivors as a test, the GPU fan didn't engage once.

I feel like I just made it worse...

I've been having a panic attack for five hours now.

I'm also noticing that I have 48% memory usage right now despite having literally no programs open except one Chrome tab and Discord. I'm seriously thinking something is wrong and someone managed to, like, trojan in and hijack my GPU for bitcoin mining or something.

   

I don't know anything about anything but this CAN'T BE NORMAL, someone must be bitcoining with my fans which is going to send my power bill skyrocketing!!!!

OK. Time for an actually positive status update. I finally got on the phone with Skytech after four hours of waiting. The tech listened to me ramble for like 15 minutes while we discussed the issue, then stayed with me the entire time as I brought my PC all the way downstairs, had someone else swap the RAM sticks into the opposite ports they were already in, and we got into the BIOS. He had me change a fan setting and it instantly brought the fans back to the speed they were running at yesterday. The computer is now showing a full 32GB of RAM again both in Windows and in HWinfo, as well.

It looks like the cause of all of this was some kind of momentary hiccup with the RAM that triggered the CMOS to wipe the fan settings, and then it cascaded from there. I'm still a little nervous, but he told me if anything else goes wrong in the near future to just e-mail him directly and he'll trigger a full replacement for the whole machine.

What a fucking saga. But it's over, at least. I have to give that tech a lot of credit, he really helped me through a really shitty, really rough day and kept me calm the entire time. One of the only times in recent memory that a four-hour customer service phone wait actually paid off.
