Should be a simple enough question, I think.

I'm definitely in a very staticy mode right now. I've swear that I've seen visible sparks before when opening car doors and I've noticed the lights flicker once or twice when I accidentally touched the screw on the light switch, but haven't quite got there this year. We'll see how it goes.

I’ve built 4 of my own PCs over the years and I’ve never had a problem with any of them with any game I’ve ever played or modded, you don’t spend hours tinker with ini files or anything, you download your game and play it. The only thing the OP mentions that’s correct IMHO is the crashes, but as they say it’s more a dev thing than your PC is broken (unless obviously you’ve built it badly which I’m guessing these folx don’t even do)

He said it was a pre-built- my guess is he probably isn't updating software and keeping it clean.  Those cheeto and chicken nugget crumbs aren't going to clean themselves!

OP, if you want something that works reliably with little to no setup, and you don't want to tweak settings or deal with troubleshooting, you should play on console. Just buy one of them to start and see how you like it. You can always resell the PC too.

Welp. I'm done with Baldur's Gate 3. Just too much unfair bullshit for me to put up with anymore. Further proof that Larian and I cannot mix at all, it seems.

Guess I need to find a new PC game to put some time into.

For additional context: PlanetSmasher rushed to a marginally difficult (I am being gracious here) combat arena instead of exploring the map in order to level/gear up. Where he’s at is essentially a large dungeon in which you’re supposed to kill three targets and save an ally; the encounters he’s complaining about are fairly simple as this is the first legitimate challenge the game presents you.

I don't even have any quests pointing me to the Underdark, nor do I have any idea of why I need to go there. The only quests I have are related to this stupid camp and fighting a hag who I already know will destroy me.

My party's level 4 right now and they're completely worthless against groups of goblins. I tried to ambush Ragzlin during his little speech and he took two damage (meaning he has 70 HP left) and aggro'd the entire room in the process. Within two enemy actions, half of my party was below half health. I just cannot deal with the stress of all these insane group encounters. We can't do any meaningful damage and with even a tiny bit of sustained pressure my characters shred like they're made of wet toilet paper.

I don't know how people are dealing with this but it's just too much for me and it feels like absolutely nothing I can do is turning the tide in my favor. This shit is why I hate Larian combat. I always feel like it's a series of total party wipes until you luck out with a series of die rolls that lets you not die.

I don't have a spell like that. Wyll is pretty much worthless outside of direct damage.

I really don't know what to do. I can't get around any of these encounters, I'm genuinely having like actual explosive rage attacks every time my entire party gets decimated in seconds by huge swarms of enemies. Nothing I have is working, nothing I try to do helps. I'm not having fun, I'm just genuinely furious.

I wish I could get my money back. This area has been such an awful experience that any goodwill I had from previous parts of the game has evaporated. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but every single thing I try has been an abject failure and I can't keep bashing myself against a brick wall when it's clear the game does not want me to progress in any way.

I don't want to do large-scale combat. Period, end of story. I HATE the combat in this game. It gives me gigantic anxiety attacks. I literally almost shattered the glass surface of my desk with my fist earlier, that's how angry this combat makes me.

I just want this shitty section of the game to be done. I want to be free from this hell. I've been stuck in this stupid base for almost two weeks now and I have not progressed even slightly. Every single thing I do either fails outright, or inexplicably provokes a massive melee against the entire base, which I do not want to do and will not survive if I try to do it, even on Explorer difficulty.

I have been bashing my head against this for such a long time that all I want is for it to be over. The only solutions I want are solutions that result in me not having to fight anything. Does that make sense?

I did turn the difficulty down. That doesn't change how many enemies the game seems to expect me to deal with all at once, though. Dealing with 15-20 enemies at a time is just awful no matter what difficulty you're on.

I just want to progress. Two straight weeks of the same area, and failing over and over again at accomplishing literally anything I try to do, is just so demoralizing it makes me crazy.

He doesn't understand the idea of setting your team up in a cramped space to force enemy tunneling into a kill zone.
