Yea Oshimi’s work tends to do that. The author’s notes and comments about gender are really rough to listen to too. Multiple times it’s pretty obvious he’s got very repressed gender dysphoria. Aku No Hana is also fantastic in my opinion.

Yeah some of his sentiments in the afterword of Inside Mari sound exactly like the state of mind I was in for the last few years before my egg cracked. I knew fully that I wanted to be a woman, even admitting it to myself, but always rationalizing it away as some distant impossibility. It sounds like he's been stuck there, and I hope he's been able to find his way to a better understanding of himself

This was exactly my concern. Particularly as many chuds on the right are in fact working on building the narrative that a lot of trans women are actually incels who transitioned to try to have sex with lesbian cis women. As such, the video title set off my bullshit-ometer. (I still don't like the clickbait aspect of it.)

I watched this video a while ago, so I don't remember all the details, but it basically uses the manga "Inside Mari" as a launching off-point for inspecting typical incel beliefs, what it can be like to be a trans person, and the intersection between the two that can sometimes happen where being trans at all is sadly treated like a fetish (or at least, trans people sometimes worry that thinking that they're trans is fetishizing whatever gender they weren't assigned)

I don’t think all transsexuals are fetishists but I think the more loud ones in the internet are almost clearly that. The fact they often try to police other while their own behavior being untouchable seem to imply to me a very strong self denial while trying to excuse it. Neither the Gay and lesbian communities seem to share that level of insecurity.

I think it matters because because it seems that the autor has a very different view of the issue than most people latching on it. (“Mental health and gender roles are more complicated than society think, but is not excuse to let me it myself” to “HE IS A FUCKING EGG”)
